We were visiting family for Thanksgiving and stopped at Appleby's. Do not go there. The restaurant was mostly empty, but took a while to get seated. Tables had not been cleaned. I should have recognized there was a problem by the food left on the plates. The food we were served was not good at all. We found it easy to get around in Mechanicsville. The shopping centers were well lit and of good variety.

Did not know that I booked with book.com. thought I was on Hampton In. Website. Could not get a refund for leaving a day early related .to the gas shortage. If I would have been checked into Hampton then I would have gotten the refund. Without any knowledge of being on booking.com I could not get a full day refund for two rooms. Had trouble finding gas going home since it was a 500 mile trip.

The hotel staff accommodated our request for early check-in as we were in a time crunch for a wedding at 4 pm. The breakfast was really good and the attendant was excellent at keeping it replenished and the area clean and stocked. The front desk staff were friendly and efficient.

We’ve been staying at this property for many years and this year it really showed his age. The ceiling in our bathroom was falling down, the walls in the hallway and in the rooms could all use painting and the bathrooms could use updates. It definitely looked like an old hotel.

It felt unsafe. The whole hotel needs a face-lift. Things were old and broken. The tub was caving in atbthe bottom and had already been patched once. The man at the front desk was doing all he could to keep it together. Hal was great!
