Our visit was to travel on the steam train “Mocanita”- that is a must see. The 20 minute walk from our hotel to the station was described as well sign posted- there was no signage and had to rely on the iPhone to reach our destination.

Quite central location to explore both Maramures and Rodnei mountains. For Rodnei, use old lift in Borsa - easiest way to get close to its ridge. But be aware that one day trips in mountains are demanding - downhill pathways could be really steep and demanding.

Good starting point for treks in the mountains above Borsa and neighbor villages. Convenient room and perfect shower and toilet (optimal water pressure). Our hosts, Julian and his joyful family, made us feel as we were at home, including free coffee (great Espresso machine). julian had helpful tips for activities in the area. We had a beautiful view from our balcony. Very comfortable beds. We were greeted with great warmth, a cup of coffee and a palinka on the house. Only a five minute drive (or less) to the Mocanita station. The hotel a few minutes walk down the road does decent food.
