Sedan was a nice city with a lot of character in places.
Sedan was a nice city with a lot of character in places. Some decent bars and restaurants. Good walk out through the cobbled streets of the hotel. Good stop over hotel if traveling to Germany or Italy.

The fortress is amazing and very safe to visit even with small children. Also, the city is very easy to visit, in that the whole downtown is a few minutes' walk away and it's beautiful to stroll in and take in the French lifestyle. If there was one let-down is that the Maison de Patrimoine, the city's other important historical attraction in addition to the fortress, only opens from 14.00-18.00! This seems like unnecessarily late opening hours, esp. during the weekend! This means that one-night visitors who only have one afternoon free in the city should choose between the fortress and the Maison de Patrimoine and can probably not visit both, esp. if they are history buffs and want to take their time reading all there is to read while visiting these places. The same more or less opening times are valid for the other historical attraction, just outside the city- Le Musee de la derniere cartouche, i.e. the house-turned-museum, where a French army unit fought the attacking Prussians literally down to the last bullet in the battle of Sedan on Aug 31-Sep 1, 1870. This is a bit disappointing for the visitor, who will probably not have enough time to see these attractions and will have to move on to other nearby historical destinations like Verdun.

Very old historic town somewhat over looked but for those interested in the history of France, a very important place.
Quiet in July, had some nice old parts, some rundown parts and some more modern,
Botanical Gardens a must. Nicely kept and a green haven to enjoy.
Walk along the river pleasant and old aqueduct interesting.
Had a lovely meal at the Saint Michael Hotel and also ate at the Fort Hotel, latter expensive and more for a special occasion.
The Fort Museum is well worth a visit . Very interesting telling the history of Sedan when it was a principality and before it became a part of France and after. Who knew that the name of Sedan cars originated from there?
We were glad we chose to go and would recommend to others

The hotel restaurant was full booked and we were advised to go into the town to eat. Sedan is a miserable town. We tried two restaurants which looked OK from the outside but they were full. Walking the streets was not a pleasant experience.

The castle was very interesting with a great hand held guide. The town itself was very run down in places with several restaurants and shops shut and boarded up. Some parts however looked as though they had recently been renovated.
Everything was perfect. The place is of course quite extraordinary, the staff was very nice and helpful, room was clean. Nothing to dislike, this is a must go at least once in your life. Take the "suite", it has an opening to the outside path on the top of the castle (in French 'tour de ronde'), like some private garden high above the fortifications, really amazing. You can park the car inside the courtyard from 6PM, which is great for safety because Sedan itself seems a little ... seedy I would say. Marvellous stay, must go.
This hotel is a part of the massive Sedan Castle. The room window overlooked the castle courtyard through two feet of stone wall. There is plenty of free parking just outside the castle main entrance. The room was fine: clean and functional. The breakfast was a little pricy for what it was but the dinner -- reservations strongly recommended -- was excellent. A neat place to stay if you are overnighting in Sedan.
Central location surrounded by abundant free parking spaces, near to the market and many restaurants. Sedan Castle is just a few minutes walk away. Likewise for the river Meuse.
Owner is very accommodating and interested
Comfortable stay for the price
Very clean
Spacious (room with private bathroom)
Everything functional for a short stay to visit the Sedan Castle
Good shower
very nice 'old school' french hotel with restaurant, which was of very good level. Nice familial reception by the whole team - the way you like a hotel. Next to hotel a nice chateau, it is a pitoresque village. Wide possibilities for free parking available around the hotel. Breakfast had fresh juice and nice fresh choice of goodies. Very nice to stay here, highly recommended.
We arrived early and panicked Laurent, but he made us feel extremely welcome. The gardens and rooms are magical and have an enchanted feeling. I would like to return here next year it’s so good. The location is fantastic for accessing the Sedan Fortress, down a hill and your in the town. Secure parking for a motorcycle so all good.
The location of the property in Sedan was perfect. The apartment is located on the 3rd floor of a beautifully refurbished old property. Parking in the street, immediately outside the apartment was free. The host provided clear information regarding access to the apartment and facilities.
We enjoyed our stay in Sedan. The flat was close to town, plenty of parking, clean. There was lots info about places to see in the area. It was very secure and there was an outdoor area with a pool and seating. The WiFi worked well. The kitchen was well equipped.
Good place for stop overnight. This hotel has a reasonable price. But don't be fooled there is nothing about design.
In general hotel is clean, bed is ok. Basic room with TV, kettle and instant coffee. Breakfast is ok, nothing exciting. Good coffee.
Lovely and well equipped Tiny House with a wonderful and calm garden. Situated on top of Sedan just behind the castle. The hosts were very kind and were very responsive in case of any questions. We would love to come back again one day.
Location is a 10' walk from the center of Sedan, very comfortable. Instructions how to find and enter the appartement were sent during the day, well in time for our arrival. everything was as described and easy to find and use.
Very friendly owner, very helpfull with questions regarding the room. Big room, comfy bed. Great location in downtown Sedan. Very nice traditional French style restaurant. Great value for money. We will come again for sure.
One of those typical hotels at the outskirts of a town that is practical when traveling through. Setting is nicer than what you often find when they bundle all of those chain hotels together in one area.
Medieval fortress, converted into a comfortable modern hotel. Staff were very helpful, especially when I'd left valuables forgotten in the room.
Excellent, if expensive, meal in the restaurants .
Excellent location in city centre , 2 blocks from Sedan castle . Great restaurants 20 meters from property .
Full size kitchen with large fridge . Balcony off kitchen .
