Beautiful colonial style town. Located centrally to other craft towns nearby (Santa Clara de Cobre.. copper Town; Ztinzunzen, baskets, green pottery and large stone work and pottery; Capula, catrina figures, clay and other pottery.
Center for Dia de los Muertos celebration at beginning of November is stellar if you visit at that time, however, prices are higher for accommodations and must be booked far in advance. Other times of the year easy to book.

This town is at 2140 meters elevation and is very cold in the evenings going as low a 4c. You need to make sure there are doors to shut out the cold, hot water and plug in heaters that will not blow the circuits. Our accomodationon on booking said that because the ad did not say anything about heating that they were not obligated to supply it. Make sure that the living space has doors installed so that the cold air can't enter anywhere if it is an apartment. Ie no open air kitchen or living room with just doors to bedrooms.

This town is so charming! Very laid-back and tranquil.
This town is so charming! Very laid-back and tranquil. (We were not visiting during the Dia de Muertos celebrations.) The central plaza is really beautiful, well utilized by the people and yet still felt low-key. The architecture is pleasing to the eye. I also love that you can see the mountains and countryside in the distance. Unlike a lot of colonial cities (I live in one), Patzcuaro does not feel closed in because the buildings are almost all no taller than two levels. I can't wait to go back!

Really enjoyed the place, it was real, not done up for tourism. The markets in the s square were bustling and vibrant, we loved the sense of community, and as visitors we could observe the real local culture
This was great hostel to stay at in Pátzcuaro . It is right near the Zocalo, and there is a great coffee shop nearby. The dorm was comfortable and the shower has hot water if you aren't in there for too long. The courtyard is a good place to relax, though there aren't any other communal areas to hang out if it rains. The staff was friendly and helpful. There's a kitchen for cooking. I was very happy to visit this town and also go out to the island.
This is a beautiful old hotel in the colonial style. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to get us parked in their secure lot and help with wifi.Fresh flowers in the room every day were a nice touch. Easy walk to the central square and artisan district. Clean comfortable quiet and peaceful.
the delicious breakfast was served in a beautiful dining room with a wall of boulders and glass and surrounded by family mementos. The staff was amazing and warm, they made us feel so welcome and didn't spare any effort to fulfill any requests we had. We vowed to go back next time we're coming to Patzcuaro!
Perfectly located, in a historical colonial building. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Free parking about 1/2 km from the hotel, though there is reserved temporary parking in front of the hotel for unloading luggage, etc. A delicious breakfast was served! Our room was comfortable and quiet.
The hotel was clean, beds were comfortable, and the location was ideal. Close to restaurants and the market. Parking is available but it's a couple of blocks away. We were able to unload the car first, then we parked in the lot. There is a decent channel selection, mostly in Spanish.
Casa Encantada is a beautiful property with art everywhere. Very homey feeling. Excellent breakfast. Helpful that there is purified water supplied daily. Very central and yet peaceful. Quite enjoyable Place from which to explore Pátzcuaro.
Location, comfort, quiet, peace.
When we arrived there was a very loud concert in the square near the hotel. my husband has a recent head injury and needs quiet. Without hesitation they upgraded us to a larger and quieter room.
Excellent restaurant in the hotel, great restaurants in the proximity of the hotel and the location for seeing the town was fantastic. The staff and service were the very best, staff went above and beyond for any need.
It is a beautiful hotel!
The staff went above and beyond our expectations. My partner has a mobility challenge and the hotel is on the side of a hill. Staff went out of their way to assist him getting around.
It was very different to anywhere else I have stayed. The hotel is built into the hillside and has several different levels so architecture was very interesting. The staff were friendly and very helpful.
Location was hard to find even for the taxi drivers. But no traffic, no noise. Only 1 block from main market and 4 blocks from the central plaza and high-end hotels/resturants.
Classic old hotel, nice staff. Very central to everything, You can easily walk down to the plazas and restaurants. Action right outfront of the hotel in front of the Basilica.
Very different from what we expected in a hotel but in a very delightful way. It was very interesting how they converted the space to meet the needs of the guests
The hotel is beautifully located at the top of the mountain with a view of the lake and the islands. Staff were super friendly and there were two lovely cats.
Delightful hotel with rooms opening onto patio gardens, fabulous bed, great breakfast, friendly staff and situated in the heart of the historic centre.
