Gilroy is the home of the Gilroy rodeo the 2nd weekend in August annually. Exceptionally well run and awesome event! The area is beautiful and very accessible to San Jose. If you like garlic or food at all, the garlic festival is a must do. The little town of Gilroy was still enjoyable even though the festival was canceled. Plenty of cool little restaurants and a couple of taverns to eat and drink.

It has been over ten years since we lived in the area.
It has been over ten years since we lived in the area. So many things have changed. Traffic is denser than I remember. There are a lot more stores and shopping centers here and we haven't yet visited the other side of town.

This Hampton Inn & Suites took the COVID compliance way too far. There was no boxed cereal, milk or OJ. There was no coffee even at breakfast. I reserved a “suite” like usual. When I walked in, it was just a HUGE ROOM. It was a hotel room that slept 5 of us with no partition. I have NEVER had to sleep in a room with my daughter’s boyfriend. It was appalling to say the least. Please don’t waste your money unless you like being packed into one room like sardines for $225 a night!!

Locals are friendly... and catch breakfast or lunch at Sandy's if you like good home cooking. If your cash is limited and you love going up stairs The Garlic Farm Inn has clean rooms with very good views... I will be back there next year when I work Northern California Renaissance Faire out on Casa De Fruta. Gilroy cab drivers are the best!CatherineUnited States of America
