We absolutely loved our stay at Zuurberg, and cannot recommend the place enough for anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing place to stay near Addo Elephant Park. The surroundings of the property are gorgeous, nestled in the mountains, and the property itself is also beautiful. Our bedroom looked just like the photos and was very comfortable, and had everything we needed for our stay. Customer service was impeccable and we felt welcome and well looked after from arrival. Alexandra was superb and helped us not only with information about our stay but also with extra tips for our ongoing journey. All the staff were lovely and always ready to help. We also did a whole day game drive and an elephant encounter, both experiences organized by the property and both excellent. Zuurberg was fantastic and we look forward to coming back!

This is a lovely lodge that has a safari theme and is dedicated to giraffe game drives: do not miss this! They do not have wild animals so you can get off the safari vehicle and walk next to the giraffes!! That was such a highlight! The room was as advertised and the dinner we booked was very nourishing and good: but the giraffe drive was amazing!

The gravel road from Uitenhage to Addo was bad.
The gravel road from Uitenhage to Addo was bad. Only one restaurant open on a Sunday. Addo Elephant Park as always is a pleasure to visit. Longer travel time due to stop and go for roadwork, just be aware.

We can’t get enough of the Elephant Park and we’re loving the Safari’s at Schotia. Zip lining at Adrenaline is also one of our favourites. We are living 4 hours away from Addo, so most of the time we are coming for the weekend ( Two nights) . It’s always too short…
The area "Addo" is not really nice, but there are nice places to stay.

Addo Elephant National Park was nice.
Addo Elephant National Park was nice. We saw tons of elephants, zebras, and other resident animals native to this area in the park. Probably best to spend one night in accommodations in or near the national park and then the other night in one of the game reserves near the park.

Addo has a lot to see but as with all national parks, what you see will depend on weather and season. The park is small enough to cover in a day but definitely would recommend a longer stay.
Elephants are always there but what I enjoy more are the smaller things like the birds. The bush is dense so if self driving, slow down.

Watching the elephants swimming at the different dams, it was a good experience. We spent the whole day driving around hoping to see a lion with no luck. I don't think they have a lion. I haven't heard any guest saying s/he saw a lion.
We loved the serene location and the fact that the lodge is so small (as in the number of chalets). It made our stay feel very personal and peaceful. The chalets were perfect - spacious, beautifully decorated, well-equipped and clean. The views from the top balcony were fantastic, especially for giraffe-viewing! The food was outstanding! Nzali is an extraordinary chef, which was a welcome surprise- we had no idea we would be experiencing such excellent cuisine. Nelly (Nelliswa), the young lady who serves the meals, was delightful!
Suzette was INCREDIBLY hospitable and helpful and she is an AWESOME cook! The grounds and lodging are idyllic and a perfect setting for wedding. The rooms were clean and super spacious and there are "domed" accommodations that offer total privacy. The breakfasts were ample and tasty and the dinners were simple but incredible (they just started offering dinner). The guesthouse is conveniently located about 30 minutes from the Addo Elephant National Park and excellent in-town dining.
The location of the Avoca River Cabins and its proximity to the Addo Elephant Park is brilliant. The view from Uncle Townies where we stayed, overlooked the citrus groves and it was awesome. Breakfast was great, and was at another well laid out venue. Although this is a working farm there was no noise from implements being used. We will definitely return to explore the area more.
We had a bush cabin which is located in a very dense bush and reached by small paths. Each cabin has its own outdoor toilet and shower and is located separate of the other ones. By that we enjoyed the discretion and the quietness.
Also the breakfast and the dinner was very good and the Addo elephant park is nearby.
In total we had a pleasant stay with lovely outdoor experiences.
Beautiful Guesthouse with a wonderful garden, perfect for a Addo Elephant Park visit.
We loved the breakfast. The host family was so helpful and caring. We’d recommend staying at Gerald’s when visiting this area.
Make sure, to follow the directions at Gerald’s website when coming from Port Elizabeth Airport or from anywhere else to the guest house. Don’t rely on Google maps.
The rooms were very modern, large TV, lovely indoor bathroom with outdoor shower. The hotel was very conveniently situated to Addo Game Reserve. Good location. Lovely setting. Overall the facilities were good.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. This was a gift to the retired parents. My father was in a wheelchair so the spacious room was excellent.
Lisa was warm and welcoming when we arrived. We stayed in a beautiful chalet overlooking the river. The view was amazing, especially during sunset. The chalet had been recently renovated and everything felt new and clean! Tastefully decorated and had everything that we needed. Great location close to Addo Elephant Park. Would definitely stay again!
The place is pretty close to the Addo elephant park.
The owners are wonderful people and they offer a bbq night in the place. we had two great evenings there. they also gave us very good information about everything we needed.
The room is a modern tent with wooden floor and a balcony. really nice and private.
Thank you Mike & Marietjie!
We had a wonderful 2 night stay here.
Great value, not far from Addo elephant park. We booked a safari with Crisscross and the were amazing too.
Evening meals were cooked fresh and reasonably priced. Super pool area to to relax after a hot day on safari Would definitely recommend a stay here.
Staff were so friendly and polite
The meals were excellent, the place is idyllic with some amazing views over the Addo Elephant Park, and we really enjoyed hiking the Porcupine Trail on the property and seeing some Sable antelope close up. Overall, the staff, service and facilities were excellent.
Very comfortable, spacious, modern, clean and well equipped cottages.
Beautiful gardens with antelopes roaming freely.
Great location on the Addo main road and within close proximity to Addo National Park.
Very good restaurant and bar at the property.
Very close to the addo, amazing staff and great breakfast to start a long day on a game drive. The host is super friendly and going the extra mile everyone leaves with a big smile
