A lovely clean little town located about a 2hr drive from Cape Town. Blown away with how well maintained the town is, with lots of little browsy type shops, coffee shops and restaurants. We didn't have time to hike but the trails looked great. Friendly locals. Located near to some wine farms as well.

Everything was lovely.
Everything was lovely. Excellent service, good facilities for kids. Children enjoyed the pools and play park. The astro turf for mini soccer and tennis courts are well maintained. The games room was not available for use due to a function, this was not ideal as it is part of the Montagu resort experience.and should always be open to its residents. The accommodation was reasonably comfortable and clean. The villa we stayed in is a bit dated. Generators should be used during loadshedding. All in all, a wonderful experience. I will definitely keep going back.

One of the most beautiful towns in South Africa, with mountains all round the views are beautiful throughout the year. The town has enough shops and restaurants for locals and tourists, but not so much that it becomes crowded (although I haven't been there during peak season). A good fusion between winelands and Karoo.

Montagu is a beautiful, clean and safe town.
Montagu is a beautiful, clean and safe town. We went for school rugby so did not get much time to spend sight seeing, but really enjoyed the natural beauty and friendliness of the towns' people. We had dinner at Mitchell's Pub and Grill....truly some of the most value for money and tasty rump steak I have had a very long time.

Beautiful old Cape town with many original buildings and points of interest. A walking tour around the town is pleasant as long as you steer clear of the main street and its surrounds, which are very shabby.
There are many choices of venue to have a meal if you are not fussy about food, but for fine dining you should try the Montagu Country Hotel's Charleston Restaurant.
Kathleen and Gary have created the perfect place to stay for enjoying the endless possibilities for things to do in Montagu. Kathleen prepares the most amazing breakfasts including traditional African items if you are adventurous. She will tailor your experience so it suits you. We feel the same way about the entire stay. Several places to lounge so comfortably to suit your mood and the temps. Other guests during our stay were also repeat guests so that says it all — it is so perfect that you’ll be back again and again.
We had a wonderful relaxing stay at Abundant Grace to unwind and relax after a long roller-coaster year. The accommodation was very nice, and the best part of our visit was the walking distance from our actual holiday destination Avalon Springs. The hosts Siva and Sharlene Pillay were wonderful in terms of top-notch hospitality, as well as the information shared about Avalon Springs Resorts in Montagu, best price and the surrounding area was extremely interesting.
I have stayed in many guesthouses around the world and J's Audacious Living in Montagu is right up there with the best of them. For self catering accommodation it doesn't get any better - the kitchen was immaculate and equipped better than almost anywhere else I have stayed. The bedrooms were pristine and the living area open and spacious with even an indoor braai to shelter from the chilly autumn weather.
the property is incredibly beautiful - the early XX century house and the well maintained garden make a peaceful atmosphere to rest and relax. the owners of this place are very friendly and helpful with their tips. the breakfast is amazing.
the location is perfect for discovering the Montagu town.
a true gem.
We had a fantastic stay at Monte Vista, beautiful hotel with spacious, luxurious rooms, amazing pool and garden. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Amike gave great tips on things to do and see on the rest of our trip. Breakfast delicious, secure parking a big plus. We look forward to our next visit.
This is one of the most charming places we’ve ever stayed. we enjoyed cooling off in the plunge pool, both an inside shower and an outside shower looking up at the mountains, so many private books and crannies to relax in, EVERYTHING! Superb!!! Lambs and chickens on the farm were fun!
A very peaceful off the grid cottage, very close to Montagu. Very pretty location, great built in braai on the patio of the cottage. The room was clean and the self catering kitchen had everything we needed. A wonderful country getaway.
Self catering cottage, with the most incredible sweeping views, of the farm and mountains. All the Bells and whistles included - e.g:wood for the fireplace, kitchen with all the utensils needed. Clean and tidy.
Everything about Olive stone farm is perfect and well thought out ,the attention to detail is excellent. even though your central to Montagu you feel like your in a rural location . really beautiful
Superb location. Great room spacious and comfortable with everything needed. Great value. Loved the wine bar attached to the hotel. Easy access good communication and big secure gated parking area.
I loved everything about this hotel: incredible art deco interior design, a wonderful lush garden and swimming pools, excellent location in Montagu town, extremely service minded staff.
A small farm feeling in the heart of Montagu
Beautiful and safe setting.
The rooms were very clean and comfortable.
Excellent breakfast.
Owners were extremely helpful and friendly.
Good mountain views, thoughtfully decorated, enough space for a family of three, beautiful gardens. We had all we needed including a washing machine as well as secure parking.
Wonderful hosts and excellent accommodation. The welcome messages from Genevieve put the icing on the cake. Close proximity to the Montagu Springs is a definite bonus!
Excellent location on the main road running through Montagu, within walking distance of restaurants. Safe area. Gourmet breakfast, personally prepared by the owners.
