Was quite surprised by the wine tasting opportunities nearby in Calitzdorp. The Safari Ranch was great, Cango Wildlife Park was exceptional, excellent managed facility. The Buffelsdrift Game Lodge elephant experience was a bucket list type experience. The Chandelier Game Lodge Buffalo as well as Giraffe experience was awesome.
The Total Garage opposite the quaint Nostalgia Restaurant are friendly and have decent wood that is affordable. The Spar is well stocked and there is an emergency Clicks Pharmacy that supports that requirement.
All and all a pleasant holiday destination with many activities to plan over the course of a week visit.

Cango Caves - do the adventure tour.
Cango Caves - do the adventure tour. Conservation Centre - as ethical as sanctuaries open to the public can be, see a huge range of animals. Meerkat Tours - fun and cute but quite overpriced and the owner is horrendously misogynistic. Nostalgie restaurant - food was amazing, however park immediately in front of the restaurant and not any further - there are 'parking attendants' that demand money, and even after paying one the others come and intimidate you (banging on the car and throwing gun symbols).

Perfect place to stop over for the night or two.
Perfect place to stop over for the night or two. Other than that there is not much to do here.
You can find big supermarket for every day shopping. We eat at hotel restaurant as not much choice. A lot of powerful like in most places in SA, just got to be careful where and when you go out.

What a lovely clean and friendly town with a lot to offer.
What a lovely clean and friendly town with a lot to offer. We went for a lovely wine pairing and pizzas at Karusa winery and also drove on the gravel road from Oudtshoorn to De Rust past the beautiful Rustica Olive Farm.

Such a quaint little town with lots of character and sights to see. We definitely need more time to explore! It is well worth a visit and the drive from the Western Cape on the R62 is the most beautiful drive ever!
Honestly, everything! Our hosts couldn’t be more accommodating and absolutely set the standard for guesthouse accommodation. It’s really above that. They’re not a hotel but would put plenty of 5* hotels to shame. If you want to stay in Oudtshoorn (and it’s well worth diverting from the garden route) then this is a great choice. Food recommendations were also spot on, both locally and also many hours away. Massive thumbs up! 100% recommend the meerkats too!
Small boutique type hotel with a few cottages. Lovely unique feel to it. We were only there for 1 night but had a lovely relaxed time. Balcony overlooks beautiful garden where you can see the sunset with a drink. Lots of lovely restaurants walking distance. Very helpful owner. Breakfast was absolutely delicious with food made to order. We loved the banana pancakes! Would stay there again if we went to Oudtshoorn
Lovely hosts! The garden is an oasis in the semi arid climate of Oudtshoorn. Breakfast was delicious, homemade bread and jams served on the covered terrace. We enjoyed exchanging with the hosts in order to learn more about what it is that makes South Africa such an extraordinary place. Thanks again for your hospitality!
+ Room was spacious and as in photos
+ The Balcony was large with good seats
+ Fitness area is usable
+ Loungers at the pool were good
+ Super quick response to questions via whatsapp
+ The Villa is very well located (near town exit to cango caves, buffelsdrift lodge and good restaurants)
It was wonderful to be on a real farm in the Karoo. The farmhouse type accommodation was fabulous. Very, very spacious and comfortable. Has all the amenities for self catering. Full DSTV, wifi, lekker stoep with braai. Swimming pool...I loved it. Marita is a fantastic hostess.
The attention to detail in their hospitality exceeded all expectations. Each meal served in the dining hall was as if we were visiting in a five star hotel. The service was exceptional. The rooms were comfortable and decor so classy and stylish. What a treat our visit was.
Best accomodation of the whole trip. Errol and Venita are wonderful and amazing people. Beautiful pension. Hospitality cannot be greater. Unfortunately we just spent one night there. If you ever go to Oudtshoorn stay here. You will love it. Promised!
The room was as described and properly cleaned. Breakfast was good with very friendly staff. The animals around the farm were great for the kids. The location of the hotel was convenient between Oudtshoorn and the Cango Caves.
Very comfortable and spacious self catering unit. The gardens and outside area are very well maintained, plenty to keep children entertained. Beautiful, relaxing environment with lovely restaurant - A relaxing country escape.
The accommodation was spacious. There was a big parking space, right outside our superior room.
Everything was new and in good working order. The braai area was great...everything we needed for a short self catering stay.
The location was stunning. The atmosphere was peaceful. We loved the property’s rustic beauty and comfort. The self catering facilities were well provided, including a gas bottle for power outages.
Property is located next to a hotel that facilitated the handing of keys, and attending to any issues experienced, such as the gas heater had run out of gas. It was done efficiently.
The courteous staff at reception and the restaurant were very helpful in making our stay comfortable. One of the nicer perks the hotel offered was a free car wash.
