It’s such a beautiful city and it has wonderful things to explore within the walls. The whole region around Sarlat is beautiful. Sarlat is the perfect place to rest after a long day exploring other small towns or caves in this gorgeous region. We could have spent two weeks here easily. Take full advantage of the markets on Wednesday and Saturday in Sarlat to get amazing food, and of course, eat at a restaurant and enjoy some amazing wine.

Charming old town, narrow streets, lots of shops, many, many selling local produce, foie gras, etc. Centrally located to visit the highlights of the Dordogne. Many places to dine, seemingly pretty much the same menus everywhere except in a couple of higher end restaurants. It is hilly. Parking very hard, everywhere is payant, get the APP.

Sarlat was an amazing town and a great place to visit. Plenty of restaurants and bars, friendly people and lots of history. We could have stayed longer but only to explore the surrounding areas.
Will definitely stay again

Politeness and a smile opens many doors, I don't speak French well, but was very pleased at how friendly and polite the people were. I mean all the people not just the ones that are getting some financial benefit from you.
Basically, be nice, don't be an ass, and you won't get treated like one.
Take a moment to look at how many men these small towns lost during WWI, must have been devistating.

The best thing of Sarlat is the location: It's easy and fast to make day trips to the multiple interesting location in the area.
Food offering is quite unified between the restaurants, it gets a bit boring after a while. Having said that there are few really good restaurants but it takes effort to find them.

Very much a tourist town but none the worse for it.
Very much a tourist town but none the worse for it. Wonderful architecture, plenty of restaurants and local specialty shops, however found it difficult to find anywhere that you could stop, have a glass or cup of something and watch the world go by. Great base for trips along the Dordogne valley and the amazing towns and chateaux.

Parking was quite difficult to find, but the hotel owner met us on foot in the centre of town after we had parked, went with us to the car and drove with us to a good parking place and then helped us to bring our luggage to our room. Service above and beyond our wildest expectations. The room was right on the main square, but was quiet because of the well sound-proofed windows. The breakfast next morning was unexceptional, but the location looking out onto the main square was brilliant for people watching.
Jeff was a welcoming and attentive host for our 3 day stay. Our room had a lovely view of a town garden and was sunny, large and recently renovated with a very comfy bed. There was a large selection of breakfast food including eggs, yogurt, various pastries and breads, cheese and meats, delicious coffee and teas. The location of the hotel is great for a home base for exploring the Dordonge Region and St. Emillion is a beautiful town to walk.
Jonathan is an incredibly friendly and welcoming host to a beautiful apartment in the heart of Sarlat.
The décor and features of the apartment are a delight; the plunge pool is a luxury and a welcome necessity in the heat of summer.
Everything you need is nearby from the basics of parking and a small supermarket to fine restaurants, excellent wine shops and the best bakeries.
Beautifully renovated property. Lovely comfortable and artfully decorated rooms. The courtyard with the pool is gorgeous and a wonderful place to relax after exploring Sarlat. The staff could not have been more personable, friendly and responsive. Le Petit Manoir is everything you could possibly ask for in a boutique hotel. I highly recommend it!
Very friendly and helpful staff who gave us a great welcome. The hotel is a walk from the centre of Sarlat and we were given recommendations on arrival as well as directions. The room was comfortable and spotless, and the cleaners were very good every day. We sat outside on our terrace every evening and enjoyed time in the pool. We will be back.
Very smart and comfortable hotel with a good breakfast. The rooms were very comfortable, and the black out curtains made for a great nights sleep. It’s a two minute walk into the centre of Sarlat so away from the noise but so close to the action. Plenty of parking on the street around, or there is a free parking lot just up the hill. Perfect.
Excellent stay at Le Clos De La Caneda its near the wonderful Medieval Town of Sarlat Le Caneda and for sightseeing to the nearby Beynac , Castlenaud Chappelle & La Roque Gagnea and a drive to Padirac Caves And the stunning Rocamadour.
our hosts provided an excellent Breakfast bought to our room every morning
The property is superbly located in the center of the medieval town close to many excellent restaurants. The owners were fabulous, helped us with restaurant reservations, met us at the hotel, and had many suggestions, and had a surprisingly well stocked kitchen for us. The room itself was wonderful.
Beautiful villa in the heart of Sarlat! Super convenient location near all the sights and restaurants in central Sarlat. The front desk even helped us arrange a canoe tour on the Dordogne River, which is an amazing bucket-list experience.
The location was great because we were right across the street from the old city of Sarlat-la-Caneda. We also had parking across the street (for which we paid 5 Euros per night). The kitchen was nicely updated.
Brand new modern apartment right in the centre of Sarlat La Caneda. On site parking included, comfortable, spotlessly clean, well equipped self contained apartment. Short walk to market, restaurants and shops.
The Hotel Montaigne is perfectly situated for exploring the town of SARLAT. Their is nothing to say negative about the hotel, all the staff are excellent, the rooms are clean and superb.
Beautiful hotel, close to Sarlat. Hostess was delightful and made several suggestions for restaurants and sight seeing. The room was great and breakfast was really nice.
Great location! Right on the edge of the old town which made it easy to get to and short walk to the everything you want to see. Paid parking is right across the hotel.
the breakfast was very good with French bread and croissants, butter and jam, orange juice and coffee. The hotels situated right in the centre of beautiful Sarlat.
Excellent breakfast, beautiful property and friendly helpful hosts. Would have loved to stay longer! An ideal place for adventures in the Dordogne valley.
