We enjoyed the Otago settlers museum and the Otago peninsula wildlife including penguins. We also loved St Clair beach and the Italian restaurant there. Unfortunately apart from Emerson’s brewery in Dunedin eating places were very limited and Dunedin was quite down at heel.

We had an overnight stay in Dunedin.

We had an overnight stay in Dunedin. Driving in the city was easy, although Google did take us through many residential streets, when there seemed a more direct route. Drove out to the Peninsula and looked over the inlet and City, roads are windy. Parked and walked within the City, loved the heritage buildings, street art, variety of shops. Visited the gorgeous train station, found Cobb & Co by accident. Meal and service was excellent. Loved the older style houses and beautiful gardens. Visted Baldwin St (very steep, lots of people walking) and love, love the Botanical Gardens! Many rooms displaying plants and designs.

Gritty city, surrounding area is beautiful, but drive required to get to beaches. Very hilly for walking around. Ate at Speights ale house, bar food was decent, beer flight not impressed. Drove to Long Beach for a walk, very nice with lots of spiral shells along the water.

Friendly locals, easy travel within city by foot or bus and by car to Otago Peninsula. Lots of choice for restaurants. Pedestrianisation of George Street will be good when finished. Speight Brewery tour was good.

    Tunnel beach was a highlight.

Tunnel beach was a highlight. It is a steep walk down to the beach but it is breathtaking. We went on a warm day and frolicked in the surf. There are no changing areas at the bottom so come prepared iif you want to swim.

    Absolutely LOVE Dunedin. Never disappoints!

Absolutely LOVE Dunedin. Never disappoints! So much wildlife. Cafes and food are awesome. Architecture is amazing. Love walking around the Botanic Gardens. Best little city on the country. Marbecks for cheese rolls. The Perc for great coffee. In fact it’s hard to find bad coffee anyshere. Etrusco for Italian food but make sure you book! Street art is great. Allans Beach for wildlife. So much to see and do. Avoid staying at The Chamberson. It’s a rip off. But most places are really good.

What a fabulous hotel - design focussed, modern and not in anyway pretentious. The atrium and open hallways are beautiful and allow the art on each floor to be viewed as a whole. Loved the wee lounge areas in atrium. The initial sense of quiet and calm is superb beginning with the hassle free check in having pre done it all online. The beds are so comfy and the interior of the room was lucious - especially the bathroom. The mini bar was so reasonably priced we almost used it!! The cafe is delicious - best coffee in Dunedin.

Staying in this classic old building right at the Octagon was perfect. The building is "old" but everything inside this 4 bedroom unit is new and to a very high standard. It is unbelievably comfortable and very well laid out. The kitchen/living room/ dining area combination is perfect. The bathrooms were large and well supplied. The unit was impeccably clean. We recommend it most highly for a stay in Dunedin (which happens to be our favorite city in NZ.) The rental agency was also a dream to work with. Thank you.

Excellent space, style and layout. The apartment has been beautifully restored and well appointed. While the apartment is next to a busy arterial road, and naturally gets some traffic noise in the lounge (but not excessively so), the double glazing and general soundproofing works a treat in the bedroom. It's situated next to a part of Dunedin that has gone through a revival so the food options are on point. Put simply, I could live here.

Staff very welcoming. We chose valet parking and all went very smoothly. Welcome tea on arrival was a lovely touch. Bar downstairs has great ambience and staff were exceptional and professional but warm and friendly also. We are in Dunedin on a regular basis and will make this our go to hotel. Definitely staying again! I

This property is very well located, walking distance to the Octagon, Railway Satation and accross the bridge to the city cruise port (not Port Chalmers!). The focus on magic was a fun aspect of the hotel. Everything worked. No aircon (but not often needed in Dunedin) Reasonably priced, but you get what you pay for.

It was a great location next to the Settlers Museum and historic train station. Within a few blocks of lots of restaurants and shopping. The free parking was a convenience and with everything so close, we walked everywhere. The hotel had a very nice lounge overlooking the street where I worked on my computer.

The rooms not only look stylish but everything was finished so well- from the quality of the furniture, to the room size, to the hot high pressure shower, the shampoo/soap/tea/coffee etc inclusions and the comfy quiet room! We loved eveurthing about our room, it was such a lovely hotel experience.

Well presented and spotlessly clean with an excellent shower. Everything you could realistically want for a short stay. Very close to the Botanical Gardens and restaurants within walking distance. Downtown Dunedin is 20 minutes walk or a short bus-ride from right outside the hotel.
