FAQs about hotels in Amsterdam

The Best Culture and Nightlife this Side of a Canal

Jump on your city bike or hop on a canal boat and admire Amsterdam, the Venice of the North! The beautiful city houses, romantic bridges, iconic canals and street cafés create its unique atmosphere and give you an ultimate taste of its fascinating past.

Famous for its museums, most important of which are located in the Museumplein, Amsterdam offers you a chance to see unforgettable masterpieces by Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Mondriaan and more. The Anne Frank House is a sobering reminder of the city’s more recent history. After a lot of walking, the Rijksmuseum is a great place to rest and get some extra culture before visiting Amsterdam’s lovely Vondelpark.

The medieval Old Center with the always busy Dam Square and the tempting Red Lights District is the most visited part of Amsterdam. Make sure to stop at Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein, homes to the best nightlife venues.

Shop till you drop at Amsterdam’s most luxury shopping street, PC Hooftstraat, the most popular street market at Albert Cuyp or in the fancy design shops of the Jordaan district. Famous pancakes and frites with mayonnaise are a must-try! The more adventurous traveler might want to try the pickled herring, followed closely by a local beer.

All these attractions are just a short train ride from the Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. Whether you want to stay at a cozy hotel on a canal, a modern apartment in a quiet part of the city or a room in the center of everything, Booking.com has a perfect accommodation for your Amsterdam vacation.

Amsterdam is the most beautiful city I have visited!

Amsterdam is the most beautiful city I have visited! My partner and I even discussed that we would like to live there at some point in the future. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating and there was so much to see and do, we stayed for 4 days and it was a great amount of time and we go to do a lot of fun and unique things but more time would have been great to explore even more!

Amsterdam offers a lot of culture if you look beyond the smoke and red-light district. It is beautiful but dirtier than expected. Lots of cute birds live in the canals and even their nests are built with rubbish. It is sad to see. People seem friendly but we didn’t have a lot of interaction with locals unfortunately. We walked around the city for 4 days and felt on the forth that we had had enough. There are plenty of museums of different kinds, so it is suitable both for children and grownups. I do recommend buying tickets in advance for everything you want to do; boat tours as well as museums. Make sure to be in good time for your visit and opt for early entrances if possible. It is a great city for walking and easier than using a car. We didn’t try public transport but there seemed to be lots of options. We love to travel and visiting new places but we felt that both Copenhagen and Gdansk are better options than Amsterdam. Please keep in mind that this city is very expensive!

Amsterdam is a must visit city.

Amsterdam is a must visit city. It's a mixture of culture, awesome people and marvellous views. Dutch people are polite and make you feel welcomed. It's a city were you feel safe walking through its parks and crossing over the beautiful bridges. I went last year, and there I was 11 months later.

    Amsterdam is lovely.

Amsterdam is lovely. Unfortunately I had a bad experience at the hotel (this time after coming 3times previously I thought I would book again. I felt like I was treated very poorly by 2 managers working dates 29/30th. Had to contact the hotel regarding unresolved matters - blockages @shower (was unable to use all morning after being accused of smoking the. Apologised saying basically was a mistake) then told will get a refund as not had breakfast not realising my whole morning was wasted on breakfasts and getting ready I never used the gym facilities, also my partner was very unhappy and uncomfortable at the whole situation.

Something for everyone and a wide range of offerings It has that wonderful antique look, that famous wicked sailor charm, the organized but crazy traffic with thousands and thousands of cavorting guests. A bit hectic and a lot of organized chaos. And then there is the pungent smell of Maruhana in the air which can be felt very strongly in the public places. There is talk of banishing the red light district and the Maruhana in Amsterdam, but this is a big part of the city that made it famous. On the other hand, the government should stand behind it when it raises its hands to collect the taxes.

Nice and flat for walking and cycling.

Nice and flat for walking and cycling. Easy to navigate, lots of interesting places to visit. Bike rentals, canal boats or hoho buses everywhere. Plenty bars, restaurants and shops. Anne Frank must be booked from 6 weeks in advance. Holocaust museum also must be booked. Great trips to windmills, clogs, cheese and vollendam recommended. Easy train from/to the airport around €6.

This is an exceptional property (villa) with an incredibly friendly and professional young staff. The attached restaurant and bar are a great added benefit as well. As a bonus there is a small (free) parking lot adjacent to the villa. This is by far the best value and quality of accommodations you will find in Amsterdam.......and it's only a short 1.5 mile walk to the city center. We took inexpensive Uber rides or walked so we could fully enjoy the pubs and coffee shops of Amsterdam!

Location is perfect, in the canal district, everything within walkable distance and so many boutique shops nearby. Hotel lounge/bar is very beautiful and so are the rooms. There is also a super cute cat in the hotel lobby to greet guests! I guess she’s the manager? I rubbed her belly everyday. :) I have stayed at quite a few hotels in Amsterdam over the years, from $300/night to $1500/night places. This is arguably THE best hotel for VALUE.

Located 4 - 5km away from city centre. Tram stop exactly 10 steps away from hotel entrance (takes about 20 - 25min to get to the Central station in Amsterdam). Clean room, got all basic needs. Not bad if you’re looking for a cheap hotel in Amsterdam. Quite far away from the city centre, but you can walk which takes about 45 minutes or use public transport. There are no shops around the hotel and the only restaurant is burger king next door. Staff were very nice. It would be nice to have a small fridge in the room and a hairdryer.
