New Town Hall Bunkhouse, hotel in Garlieston

New Town Hall Bunkhouse provides accommodations in Whithorn. Featuring a shared kitchen, this property also provides guests with a terrace. The hostel has family rooms.

The location was amazing …so many walks to do in that area. I got a 7 day bus pass and would take the bus to a spot then walk back along some of the paths and walking ways. The kitchen is absolutely perfect with everything you could need. The hostel is only 3 months old and purpose built as a bunkhouse/hostel.

Cally Palace Hotel & Golf Course, hotel in Garlieston

Originally an 18th century mansion, Cally Palace is now a sophisticated golf hotel just 48 minutes’ drive from the market town of Dumfries.

Good location, great staff, good quality dinner. Breakfast was good choice of continental or cooked buffet with option to select choice of eggs. Quality of cooked produce was average for breakfast. Facilities are good. Rooms, whilst looking dated are in keeping with property and were clean. Welcome dogs in rooms and conservatory bar area.

The room was lovely - right at the front of the hotel with views over the Harbour From all our trips to different hotels this time the breakfast was by far the absolute best. Great service, lovely friendly staff, fabulously cooked breakfast. I would be more than happy to recommend for their breakfast alone. The hotel staff in the bar and reception were also lovely and friendly and helpful.

It takes a while to get there, but it's worth the effort. It's a great little hideaway. The cafe, The Hive and pub, The Harbour Inn, are both welcoming and reasonably priced. There's plenty to visit in at least three directions within a thirty minute drive. Sunrise and sunset are both quite special

Garlieston is a lovely quiet place to visit. There is a pub which serves food and a small cafe. There is no local shop so best to take supplies! if you like a quiet relaxing holiday then this is the place!

    Friendly locals.

Friendly locals. Great pub in the village - The Harbour Inn - lovely pub staff, make you feel at home. Beautiful scenery and wildlife. The nearby Kilsture wood is fantastic for wildlife (deer, red squirrels and woodpeckers, amongst other beasties) and really tranquil. Galloway House beach (Rigg Bay) is huge and the in the warmer months, the shallow nature of the bay allows the water to warm up a bit more - great for paddling in.

If your after a slower pace of life for a few days, then this is just the ticket. Peaceful in a great location. The Harbour Inn is the only pub, but has good decent food and friendly staff. Advise booking a table.

The historical information around the creation of the "Mulberry" harbour and the impact that had on the Normandy Landings was truly an eye-opener. There are also wonderful walks along the beaches near to Garlieston which are right there to be enjoyed - simply stunning !!
