FAQs about hotels in Lincoln

The Glory of Medieval England

Lincoln was a powerhouse of medieval England and retains amazing monuments from that period. In the Uphill district is the castle built for William the Conqueror. Inside its an original copy of the Magna Carta and its ramparts offer fabulous city views. Across the cobbled square which houses the large Christmas market is huge Lincoln Cathedral whose unusual façade features 2 tall towers, while another at its centre overlooks the Bishop’s Palace.

Connecting the cathedral quarter with the Downhill district is aptly named Steep Hill, a narrow street lined with unique shops and historic buildings including the Jew’s House. Even older are the Roman Newport Arch, Mint Wall and the well on Bailgate.

This road slopes down to meet the River Witham at High Bridge, a stone-arched structure with a half-timbered building atop that is the oldest of its kind in England. Lincoln boat trips depart from the Brayford Pool just west.

Another monument is the 18th-century Ellis Mill, opposite the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. The Collection combines an archaeology museum and art gallery, while The Lawn has a conference centre and the Joseph Banks Conservatory, displaying artefacts he brought back from adventures with Captain Cook.

Booking.com’s Lincoln accommodation covers luxury waterfront hotels, guest houses by the university and cheap apartments near the train station.

Lovely castle and some lovely shops, although a few empty ones as is usual these days. The hill will put some off, but plenty of restaurants and bars. If you like your real ale, The Strugglers Inn is the place to go. Friendly town, will return.

We enjoyed rhe mixture of ancient and modern & it was great for a short break. We found the free tour of the guildhall very interesting, the castle is well worth a visit & what we could see of the cathedral without paying the £11 entrance charge is wonderful. Parking was provided at property from midday on day of arrival until midday on departure day. Parking in city is very expensive but there is a park & ride which we used & found convenient .

The hotel is situated well within the city, we used the local walk and ride buses to get to the Cathedral as it can be a long climb up the steep hill but walking back down brings you past some great pubs and into the main shopping area.

Super friendly and helpful reception. Excellent customer service in the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. The treacle sponge was the biggest we had ever seen and is a big favorite of ours! They went above and beyond to make our experience amazing for both myself and my children. The room was spacious with everything you would typically expect and need in a hotel room. The sweeping grand staircase decorated with flowers leading up to the rooms was a wonderful sight, my daughter felt like a princess walking up them.

Loved the beautiful location of property. Near the canal and Marina with a bus service into Lincoln city centre. A perfect location to relax after the hustle and bustle of a day in the city. Food what you expect with Pub Grub no complaints at all. The staff make this hotel I forgot to ask her name but the young lady who checked us in was amazing taking the time to give us local info and making sure we were settled in. I have to add all staff were friendly and helpful and would definitely stay here again.

Arrived at the Loudor and filled out my cooked breakfast request with what ever I wanted. The room was so quiet and the bed super comfy! Breakfast the next day was amazing! It was such a surprise to be served by a talking robot- loved every minute of it. There were plenty of cereals to eat, the cooked breakfast was excellent quality and the owner Wendy was so friendly. The parking is free and the hotel was super clean and felt just so safe which is important to me as a single traveller.

Went to Lincoln for a night away and found that this hotel had good parking facilities. Checking in was a breeze as the staff were lovely and very helpful. Our room was a good size with very nice décor and very clean. The pub area was great and a good atmosphere. Bed was very comfy and we slept like babies. Breakfast was a good portion and cooked to perfection. Checking out was stress free. All in all a top spot and I will definitely be staying again.

Beautiful period property, fabulous location and views over the Lincoln city and Cathedral and castle. Literally a couple of minutes stroll and you are in the historic part, and 10 minutes walk, you're in the more modern, lively areas. Can't recommend this property enough, works so well for exploring Lincoln, parked the car on the first day, and didn't use it again until we reluctantly left to come home.........

Room cold old type air con that smelt when first turned on. Windows dirty/room dusty. Room old and tired. Bathroom spot light not working/big dints in the bath loo didn’t flush very well. Waited over 45mins for food. Meal for 4 my food came out and must have been under the heat lamp for a long while. The hotel was generally ok and in the perfect location just didn’t live up to the website information

Fantastic hotel right in the heart of Lincoln. A stones throw from the cathedral and a short walk to the many unique shops, bars and eateries. The hotel itself is beautiful with some features inside preserved from its past life as a church...mostly the windows which are stunning. We would definitely stay again.
