I had the pleasure of staying at Árnanes Country Hotel, a family-owned gem that immediately felt like home. What made my visit truly special was the warm hospitality of the owners. They generously shared insights into fascinating, off-the-beaten-path destinations that I would have never discovered otherwise. These unique recommendations added so much depth to my exploration of the surrounding area.
The relaxed vibe extended to the morning routine as well. I appreciated the flexibility around breakfast times—there was no rush, and I could enjoy my morning meal even if arriving at the end of the schedule, savoring it without feeling hurried. This laid-back approach contributed significantly to the overall feeling of comfort and ease during my stay.
My accommodation was a charming little house entirely constructed from wood, with thoughtful and attractive decorations that created a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The eating area followed suit, adorned with vintage decorations and decorative natural flowers, making every meal feel special.
Having a parking spot right next to my house added an extra layer of convenience, simplifying my daily excursions. While the accommodation didn’t offer dinner during my stay due to the low season, this turned out to be a hidden blessing. It led me to explore the nearby city of Hofn, where I discovered some fantastic restaurants for my evening meals.
In summary, my stay at Árnanes Country Hotel was nothing short of delightful, thanks to the incredible warmth of the owners, the beauty of the surroundings, and the comfort of my accommodation.
I left feeling refreshed and grateful for the experience.

Staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was great, we had great views of both the sea and the glacier. It it is very secluded so we decided to dine there and the food was amazing the lamp is from the Farm and the tomato soup was delicious I think is one of the best meals we had in our stay in Iceland

This is as our 2/4 home for our trip, and we hit one of the worst storms en route. Check in time ends at 7pm, fyi.
The room is a little tight but works for a couple. Otherwise the location and breakfast from the cafe was absolutely amazing. The view is breathtaking. The Viking village was so cool. Get the waffle !!!!

Easy self check-in, clean rooms, warm and promptly ready.
Very quaint and QUIET seaport town. A lot of the restaurants and bars were closed during my stay but was able to go to 1 of them which was lovely. It's a very far east part of Iceland I recommend going to, even if it is for 1 night.

Gem! This was worth the extra drive to visit. Honestly it was my favorite part of Iceland. Rugged beauty without the long line of tourist buses to contend with. Stokksnes Beach is a hidden gem at sunrise!

Hofn is a lovely town in SE Iceland.
Hofn is a lovely town in SE Iceland. It has numerous, easy walking paths thru town and around their waterfront including a golf course with views that I think rival those of the finest courses in the world. Not a golfer, but if I were, this is a place I would want to play. It was spectacular. The views of the glacier were outstanding. There were several good restaurants, lobster is a local specialty. There are nature and art trails along the waterfront and a number of good historical exhibits. Wished we could have spent more time here. It felt like a vibrant, fully functioning community that I would have liked to explore more.

it was one of the most expensive stay on our 12 days trips.
it was one of the most expensive stay on our 12 days trips. The room did not match the pricing.
There were not microwave nor toaster nor any other means to warm up any food. Only one working chair in the room.
It was clean, but not worth the price.

Unlike tourist traps in the USA, Hofn is a marine village built to accommodate itself throughout the seasons. It's a place to relax, take in the fresh air, and chill. Its natural beauty is more than enough.
The house is very spacious and beautiful. It was like living a dream, It was like being Diabolik and Eva Kant staying at one of their secret houses, a deluxe one. Being in the middle of nowhere with nothing around was an other interesting feeling: you are safe and warm inside the house, at the same time you are totally alone in the middle of an Icelandic landscape.
Not having a kitchen is the main downside of this accommodation, also because no nearby facilities are present: that being said, we has a wonderful stay!
The room was big, clean and good. The included breakfast was excellent. The guest house was also convenient for driving into Hofn The host was very accommodating and gave us a fantastic list of recommendations when we set off the following day. Also gave a great insight into Icelandic culture that people don’t lock their cars or houses. Learning about Iceland from a local is very fantastic. Thank you
Rooms are comfy, clean and the units are just what we needed for 1 night. We had already done groceries so we had the breakfast in our room. You can make tea/coffee and there is a table with 2 chairs meant just for this. Nice view too regardless if you having a room with our without mountain view. Diner in Höfn is perfectly feasible. Good stop between Vik and the northern / west part of Iceland.
Amazing little guesthouse right on road 1 near Hofn.
The owner, Inga, was the first real Icelandic person we met, and we had long conversations on life in iceland.
The place is very clean. The private bathroom is located out of the room but passage is through a heated corridor, and its very clean.
Recommend for people who want to see the real Icelandic way of living.
We've stayed in several cabins in Iceland, and this one was the best. Plenty of room. Nice tableware and kitchen appliances. It even had a soft-boiled egg cooker! Larger shower than others. From the front porch one can see four glaciers in the distance. Woke up to horses grazing right by the porch. One was very friendly and came over. A wonderful experience!
Amazing place, clean, cosy, comfortable. Amazing staff. To sit and look at the glacier while having breakfast was so beautiful. We were three with a 4 year old. Food was really good. Highly recommend a stay here. Used the Höfn hotel as a stop on a south tour of Iceland. Really beautiful countryside around this area.
parking. netflix. coffee. cook. aurora. facility. price. location. and mostly wonderful host. everything is so perfect.
if you are reading my review, just make a booking this house. i guerantee you that this is the best hotel you could find in iceland.
thanks you again. i had a great time in iceland
An amazing and special stay. The character of this guesthouse and the location were really memorable and allowed us to immerse ourselves in Icelandic culture. The rooms very cosy and even had a smart TV extension to watch netflix. Warm and new. Breakfast was great!
I had dinner and breakfast here and both were fantastic. In fact, the breakfast was the best I have had in Iceland. Scrambled eggs that were actually cooked and not runny…and bacon the was crisp and delicious, not limp and greasy.
This was our favorite stay in Iceland. You can’t beat the scenery. The staff was very nice, the room was modern and nice, and the breakfast at the cafe was a great way to start your day. We loved our stay at the Viking cafe.
Clean, comfortable, and great location. Simple guesthouse great for a good night sleep after a long day roaming in beautiful Iceland. Beautiful view of the harbor and walking distance from the 2 best restaurants in town.
Location is very good, close to Hofn, and good stop over if you’re doing full tour of Iceland. Plenty of parking space in front of the property. Room was big enough and very clean. The stuff was very friendly.
This was the finest constructed hotel in Iceland. Just superb work. The bathroom set up and functionality was just great. The restaurant was also one of the finest meals I’ve had in Europe. Really impressed.
The traditional Iceland buffet breakfast was complete and well tended. The room was clean, new and modern. During breakfast, a sheep and two lambs walked up to the window to say hello and posed for pictures.
Room and beds confortables; very kind and helpful staff; good breakfast.
The guesthouse is well situated with a beautiful view on the glacier.
The dinner is really good and not really expensive for Iceland
Comfy beds, clean, nice shower and the first hotel in two weeks in Iceland that had a usable bathroom sink with a faucet placed high enough the you could actually get your hands under it to wash them..
