The Staff were Great: friendly, courteous, helpful (Erika & Miwa). Spoke to Ricardo on phone few times, he helped assign room prior to our arrival. They were prompt for our requests (towels, assistance w/TV, room change, etc). Understood situation: Everyone was clear/transparent to let us know low on staff during certain hours for front desk, low on housekeeping staff & provided info re: about the area & restaurant attached, hotel guests get 10% discount. The freezer/fridge combo was spacious for mini size, able to store more in freezer section. Liked having a good working ice machine & washer/dryer on the premises, used both during our stay.

Known for beautifully undulating coastline attracting a wealth of wildlife, laid-back Monterey is on a small peninsula. Though now more famous for Monterey Jack cheese, it was once an important sardine fishing town. Some former canning factories now house galleries and shops on a street renamed Cannery Row after a novel by John Steinbeck. A museum and his former home in nearby Salinas can be visited.
The fantastic Monterey Bay Aquarium houses a fascinating range of local sealife, which is so prevalent here that you can often see seals basking on craggy beaches, or sea lions roaring away under piers in Fisherman’s Wharf. Whalewatching tours also depart from here.
South is the Monterey State Historic Park, site of historic buildings including Custom House and the Old Whaling Station with a path made from whalebone. To the east are a couple of Monterey hotels on the beach on Booking.com, and there are also several Monterey hotels with indoor pools.
Right by Monterey Peninsula Airport is one of the city’s 7 golf courses, and there are 3 golf courses near the Laguna Seca Raceway.
Whether you’re here for the Monterey Jazz Festival, or for driving the Big Sur Pacific coast road to the south, if you’re staying with kids, don’t forget to check out the Dennis the Menace Park.

Cannery Row is a bit of a tourist trap, but if you head away from the beach you quickly access the restaurants of Lighthouse Avenue, including Hula - Hawaian food. If I had my time again, I would have tried to stay nearer to the Acquariam, even as far west as Pacific Grove (technically the next town along), near the delights of Happy Girl Kitchen.

We went for Whale watching primarily. Worth it.
We went for Whale watching primarily. Worth it. Brilliant, but swell from previous storm pretty bad, despite anti-sickness tablets. Local Hotels have brochure with 10$ discount p.p.!
Town pricey and touristic,
We joint daily local indoor pool for 20$ p.p. a day as part of continous prep for swim competition.
17 mile drive [=12$ per car], nice, but not essential, on rental bicycle might have been more fun.
Just walking bit away from wharf towards peninsula, wildlife like otters, seals etc.
Parking ticket for parking against traffic 48$ [just popped into nice French bakery].

I love the ocean.
I love the ocean. There are just so many great little beaches to visit. Monterey has so much Sea life too. We saw harbor seals, otters, elephant seals, too late for the Monarch Butterflys, tons of birds, just from the walking paths! We actually walked from Monterey to Pacific Grove. There are also loads of shops, and restaurants.

My trip to Monterey Bay was amazing, due to how beautiful the scenery was and how close everything was to were I stayed. The Wave Street In was a great hotel to stay in because the aquarium and many restaurants are so close to it you can walk everywhere and not worry about parking. The hotel was also great as everything was clean and the staff was very helpful.

Visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Pre-book tickets online to avoid the ticket lines. Get their map and event schedule and get to events about 15 minutes prior for best positioning. Parking and food is cheaper the farther away from aquarium you go.
Although the property is in Old Monterey, a busy area, the hotel is quiet. The rooms seem to be secluded from the hustle and bustles of cars, people.
The atmosphere is peaceful, quiet and private.
We stayed in a king standard room for 2 nights and decided to stay in the one available suite for
an extra night
Walking distance to the triple D restaurant, old town, historical museums, shopping and Monterey’s Old Fisherman’s Wharf! A little Over a mile to cannery row.
This is the second time my family and I have stayed at this establishment. It is a bare bones hotel, but the employees are nice and helpful. Even though it is an older property, everything was clean and in working condition. The beds were comfortable and the location was peaceful enough to get a good night's sleep. A large mall is within walking distance, so it is quite easy to find food quickly. Also, downtown Monterey is a 15 minute walk away.
Rooms were lovely. Huge king size beds with really comfy mattresses. Staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. There was a lovely garden area outback which was tended daily. Great breakfast and onsite parking was a real bonus for us too. Fantastic location to Fishermans Wharf & shopping areas and a leisurely stroll to Cannery Row and Monterey Aquarium
My wife and I loved the nice structure of this Motel, the large room and the services. It is located in a comfortable position to reach the most iconic places of Monterey, such as The Fisherman's Wharf, The Cannery Row, The Aquarium, Carmel-by-the-sea, 17-Mile Drive. Ideal if you are driving SF-LA and want to visit Monterey. Unfortunately we stayed only one night.
Look, it's a 5 star hotel so you get all the amenities with that - hot tubs, large rooms, comfy beds (if not super high!), very clean, room serviced multiple times a day, turn down service, lobby bar (didn't open til 5pm though). Great location, walking distance to Cannery Row, aquarium, restaurants. Quality of the breakfast food.
Beautiful hotel, room and comfortable bed. Love that the hotel is right on the water and we can hear the crashing waves while in the room. Location of hotel also allow us to walk to restaurants nearby for meals.
Location was the best for Monterey. We could dine out at many dining options and it was an easy walk back to hotel. There were many conferences going on but we never had to wait for service or the elevator.
The room was comfortable. We really liked having a fire on the beach. This hotel is located close to restaurants and shopping. The views are stunning and just sitting in the lobby with a drink is so relaxing.
The hotel is centrally located in Monterey, which makes it ideal for all kinds of explorations. We really liked the room, and the breakfast in the hotel restaurant was delicious.
This is a basic but clean hotel. The price is very good considering how expensive hotels in Monterey are. Close proximity to the beach and the Pacific Coast Highway.
The location was right on the beach so you could see and hear the waves crashing on the shore. They gave us 2 complimentary drink vouchers to use at the bar.
The location was great, but the hotel is small and old and expensive for what you get. If I had it to do over, I would stay at the Monterey Plaza next door.
The property is beautiful and right on the water in Monterey. In the center of Cannery Row. Property is very clean and employees very nice and helpful.
