We stayed in Intra, a smaller district / town part of...
We stayed in Intra, a smaller district / town part of Verbania. The town was great; it had shops, supermarkets, cultural activities, a small beach, great nightlife atmosphere with restaurants and bars. It felt safe to walk around at night. We did not like the busy main traffic road crossing right through the town. That was definitely the spoiler for us. Beware of expensive restaurants serving poor quality food 'for the tourists'. Better buy food yourself and cook at your apartment if possible! Great quality Italian products at a third of the price. Great ferry trips departing often. Beware of the islands excursion, took forever to get to Isola Bella and definitely a bit of a tourist trap, a very beautiful one though!. Great hiking and biking excursions, just do a little research and there's loads of amazing places to see. Huge market on Saturday. Leather goods for all tastes. Be careful again, they will try and charge you heaven and earth for cheese, salamis, fruit etc. Otherwise, Fabulous!

Verbania is a good base for exploring the sights of Lake Maggiore. It has great facilities and is the starting point for boats and ferries on the lake. Verbania is attractive, with a pretty waterfront, a lovely old town and lots of shops and places to eat.

Verbania is a beautiful city on Lago Maggiore.
Verbania is a beautiful city on Lago Maggiore. There is a free market every Saturday, with good bargains and excellent fresh fruit and vegetables. The cathedral on San Vittore is a must see. And the Botanical Gardens: Villa Taranto is a great place to sit and enjoy the views of the Lake and Nature's Treasures.

Relaxing setting with lots of options. Visiting the beautiful islands on Lago Maggiore and Villa Taranto botanical gardens were highlights for us. Eating out as well as shopping is excellent.
Eating out as well as shopping is excellent. Corona safety meassures are observed in all places we visited. I've been a regular visitor to the area for 40 years and I can say things have not deteriorated there like in many other places, on the contrary if anything the overall impression of the place has improved and is more attractive today - definitely no tourist trap.wolfgangGermany

The breakfast was really delicious and the staff were so friendly. Definitely, if I will have a chance to come back to Verbania I would love to book in the same hotel. We had a room with nice cozy balcony with partial view to the lake. Mr. Alberto was a gracious host, gifting us with a bottle of prosecco for our Mom's Birthday (the reason for our trip). The apartment is very spacious and each room having it's own bathroom was definitely a bonus. The views from the apartment are simply stunning and having the huge awning for those quick passing showers so you can still enjoy the gorgeous views is a nice touch.

Then it takes you only 5 minutes on foot to go to the old town next door. The free parking was convenient, the breakfast was nice and the staff was so helpful. Only 10 mins walk from Villa Taranto botanic garden and Villa Taranto quay to take a boat to Isola Bella, Isola Madre, Locarno etc... Only a couple of mins drive or 20 mins walk from restaurants located in Pallanzo or Intra. Lidl and Bennet supermarkets are only a couple of mins away.
