We stayed in Intra, a smaller district / town part of Verbania. The town was great; it had shops, supermarkets, cultural activities, a small beach, great nightlife atmosphere with restaurants and bars. It felt safe to walk around at night. We did not like the busy main traffic road crossing right through the town. That was definitely the spoiler for us. Beware of expensive restaurants serving poor quality food 'for the tourists'. Better buy food yourself and cook at your apartment if possible! Great quality Italian products at a third of the price. Great ferry trips departing often. Beware of the islands excursion, took forever to get to Isola Bella and definitely a bit of a tourist trap, a very beautiful one though!. Great hiking and biking excursions, just do a little research and there's loads of amazing places to see. Huge market on Saturday. Leather goods for all tastes. Be careful again, they will try and charge you heaven and earth for cheese, salamis, fruit etc. Otherwise, Fabulous!

Verbania is a good base for exploring the sights of Lake Maggiore. It has great facilities and is the starting point for boats and ferries on the lake. Verbania is attractive, with a pretty waterfront, a lovely old town and lots of shops and places to eat.

Verbania is a beautiful city on Lago Maggiore.
Verbania is a beautiful city on Lago Maggiore. There is a free market every Saturday, with good bargains and excellent fresh fruit and vegetables. The cathedral on San Vittore is a must see. And the Botanical Gardens: Villa Taranto is a great place to sit and enjoy the views of the Lake and Nature's Treasures.

Relaxing setting with lots of options. Visiting the beautiful islands on Lago Maggiore and Villa Taranto botanical gardens were highlights for us. Eating out as well as shopping is excellent.
Eating out as well as shopping is excellent. Corona safety meassures are observed in all places we visited. I've been a regular visitor to the area for 40 years and I can say things have not deteriorated there like in many other places, on the contrary if anything the overall impression of the place has improved and is more attractive today - definitely no tourist trap.wolfgangGermany

The apartment is very well equipped, perfectly equipped kitchen, and when wr came end February, very well heated and comfortable. Easy access to the lake, we took the path and sidewalks along the lake all the way to Pallanza and even Intra, good bus connection from just below the house. The area in around Verbania is wonderful, plenty to do and to see, and to enjoy.ArminGermany

Mr. Alberto was a gracious host, gifting us with a bottle of prosecco for our Mom's Birthday (the reason for our trip). The apartment is very spacious and each room having it's own bathroom was definitely a bonus. The views from the apartment are simply stunning and having the huge awning for those quick passing showers so you can still enjoy the gorgeous views is a nice touch.

The lounge chairs in the front yard are comfortable, and there was plenty of space for everyone to have a certain level of social distancing privacy. The ability to swim in lake out front was nice. The walk to the main hub if Palanza, with many restaurants, shops, the lighted fountain and ferries also extremely convenient. Parking near hotel also free on street.

Cooking facilities were good, as well as the good bathroom. We were welcomed with prosecco and cake :-) Location is strategically close to the lake, 15 minutes walking from free gravel beach (water was nice!). Apartment is 1 hour drive from Macugnaga, the highest wall of Europe (east flank of Monte Rosa massif). Popular bakery is very close.
