Gaeta may not have the lure of the big city and is a few miles off the main rail station. However, there is enough wonder and beauty to get lost in awe of the winding medieval streets and an ideal location to take day trips to Rome, Naples, Pompeii, and the equally exciting history of nearby towns and castles.LeCount - 10Scored 10
Gaeta is really beautiful.
Gaeta is really beautiful. The apartment is along the harbour with amazing views. A short walk (10 mins) can lead you to a stunning beach. Turn up the streets to the side of the apartment which take you to a variety of shops and cafes. A real mix of Italian life.

A historic city of special charm, happily not very well known to foreign tourists (but liked by Italians). Good communication with Rome and Naples, lots of interesting attractions in and around Gaeta, great selection of restaruras with fresh seafood. Beautiful beaches.PiotrPoland - 10Scored 10
Gaeta is a nice small city at the coast of Lazio.
Gaeta is a nice small city at the coast of Lazio. It has a great view of the sea and the mountains and also of the old town and the castle on the top of the hill. Both the old and the new town centres were charming and nice to walk in the narrow streets. There are not many big restarants here winter time, but mostly takeaway or a few tables outside of the pizzerias. The city is small and midday most of the shops and restaurants in the city are closed. It has a big and nice beach that is clean and with good quality of the sand.

Not a lot of restaurants in the beach open anymore in October. Not easy to walk to actual town center if you are older and have bad legs/physical condition. Buses run, but not always in time. Not easy to find time-tables through internet.EIJAFinland - 10Scored 10
We were delighted to be in a place that was not ha by full...
We were delighted to be in a place that was not ha by full of other Americans… I used a translation app on my phone to communicate as English is NOT widely spoken… the alleys were all decorated differently and the people were lovely. It was fun to shop and cook- prices were quite reasonable and the shopkeepers were friendly. I got a purse and sandals for much less than I expected. Parking wasn’t easy but we were glad to have a car so we could take side trips in addition to all the great walks I took

Each Room had its own private space in the garden overlooking the wide expanse of the beautiful bay below. A rare find, it has the South of France vibe and style. Quite yet a short walk to bars and restaurants. Gaeta is an attractive town many Italian visitors and few foreign tourists at this time of year. Beaches are a 10 minute drive away. The restaurant staff achieved the perfect balance between being friendly and yet professional. The beach is fantastic, the food is great, my room had a balcony with sea view - couldn't have asked for more really. The location between Gaeta and Sperlonga is perfect for visiting either town. The lifts all over the hotel made getting around so easy.

I booked all my Italy places on here using the filter to make sure there was parking but it is often the case that the hotel will mention they have parking but it is still at a high cost to the guest. If you plan to go to Gaeta for the opening night of the Christmas lights (2nd weekend in Nov) this is the placeto stay. We had a perfect balcony view of the fountain that lit up, played the music, and saw the local dancers, it was literally amazing. Walkable for a family of 5 to the hiking of the mountains and getting to the beachfront. We thoroughly enjoyed this spot. The balcony is the key to this location.EricUnited States of America
