FAQs about hotels in Cape Town

Cool, Colorful Cape

Between mountains and beaches, the 2nd largest city in South Africa mixes history, resilient modernity, and a typical laidback African character. From the top of Table Mountain to the colourful Bo Kaap quarter, and from the Victoria & Albert Waterfront to the modern business district, Cape Town blends multicultural influences and beautiful nature.

Known as Kaapstad in Afrikaans, its sunny weather and mild temperatures make it a perfect place to enjoy the large number of beaches that surround it. From Sunset Beach to Hout Bay, and from Simon’s Town to Gordon Bay, this city offers variety that suits all tastes. Whale and dolphin watching is a popular activity in False Bay.

Located on the Cape of Good Hope, the city was founded in 1652 by a Dutch trading company as a way-station for ships travelling to the East Indies. With the settlement process, all sorts of foreign plants were introduced, including the grapes in the famous Cape Winelands District, just outside of Cape Town.

Cape Town’s history does have some darker periods, and some of its memorable places from this time deserve to be visited: Robben Island jail, the City Hall from which Nelson Mandela gave his first public speech, and the statues of the 4 South African Nobel Peace Prize winners on the V&A Waterfront.

I was in Capetown for the Cycle Tour race.

I was in Capetown for the Cycle Tour race. It is an attractive city, but it has it's dark side. Crime is rife, and walking around as a white tourist, apart from in places like the swish V&A Waterfront and some classy neighbourhoods, is not recommended.

Cape Town is really the crown jewel of big city and coastal holiday living in South Africa. The best run city, it makes going back to any other (South African) city a terrible experience. Super tourist friendly and endless things to keep you busy during your visit. Beautiful sunsets and crisp blue ocean views complement this stunning harbour city.

Ability to get around really helps.

Ability to get around really helps. I rented a car but for a short stay would have been better off hiring Uber. Parking in town is problematic and leaving a vehicle downtown is worrisome. Capetown is a very interesting place to see and understand. I would recommend a tour guide to get a good start to explore the city.

    Cape Town is great.

Cape Town is great. Go to the V&A Waterfront to eat and buy souvenirs. Hike Table Mountain - one of the more interesting trails, like Skeleton Gorge or Kasteelsport. Swim in the pool by the ocean; ride a bike on the Sea Point promenade. It's all good and quite affordable, especially the Ubers.

I mean do you get any better then this place?? I have been coming to cape town for many years and this place is incredible... I mean the value for money the service and most Importantly the views!!! You get many expensive hotels in cpt that you spend a lot of money on yet you are barely in it... but hotel sky is just the perfect get up and go situation with a great atmosphere 👌 especially the rooftop sky ride which is a must try for all people who want to get a adrenaline rush and the perfect view of cpt🥳

Exquisite boutique hotel in prime location on the Beach Road, right on the promenade. Superb and imaginative design, comfortable and well-appointed room and super friendly and professional staff. What makes it different from many upmarket hotels is personal service - you really feel like a valued guest, not just another customer. There are lots of restaurants nearby, and a secure car park for your vehicle. Cannot recommend it more to anyone wishing a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Cape Town.
