Great access to town and countryside. Tivoli has lots of character and amazing views, plenty of places to eat and shop, and to immerse yourself in true Italian culture.
I'd recommend the Villa d'Este and Villa Adriana (Hadrian's Villa), both of which can be done in one day, although allow more time for the latter, and bring a packed lunch as there are no catering facilities.

Tivoli is a great town outside of Rome.
Tivoli is a great town outside of Rome. If you are looking for old character, charm, and beautiful gardens, you have found your spot. Food was great at all locations. I would recommend spending a lot of time Villa di Este.

The park of Villa Gregoriana has stunning views of the waterfalls and is a must natural attraction when visiting Tivoli.
Villa D'Este is a magnificent example of the Italia Villas of the Renaissance, with its beautiful gardens and many fountains.
These two locations and the overall historical city area are easily reachable all within walking distance. The historic downtown also offer many eating alternatives.
Villa Adriana is one of the most majestic archeological sites of the Roman Empire, truly impressive in its scale and content.
Plan for a three nights stay in order to have two full days to visit the city.

Wonderful area to explore and use as a base to visit Rome.
Wonderful area to explore and use as a base to visit Rome. Fly into Ciampino. Public transport and parking is good. Prepare to walk up hill on occasions in town. Villa d'este well worth a visit BUT beware of payment on entry. (See Tip) Driving can be either exciting or challenging. Make sure if you go on the toll roads you understand how they work and how to pay. Local food is really reasonably priced if you choose well. "Botega del Grano" is an excellent choice in Tivoli.

Tivoli is a great location especially if you have previously visited Rome. It is much cheaper than Rome for food and drink and the quality of food is very good. For example we visited a restaurant in Rome for lunch - a restaurant we had previously visited - cost for lunchtime pasta for four with four beers and two Aperol Spritz 107 Euro's. Night time meal in Tivoli at a restaurant specializing in food from Tuscany for starters, meat main courses, six beers and 4 Aperol Spritz cost 117 Euro's.
Tivoli offers easy access to Rome via Train. To be honest having visited Rome before was disappointed with how expensive it has become, entry to alot of the venue's had massively increased in price and hour long queues. Also found the city very dirty.

If you like quaint rustic italy, this is for you, gorgeous scenery, lots to do but do homework first as if you do not have a car, the public transport needed a recky first. Not all cafes open on a Monday, but when they are the food is lovely and very reasonably priced. Taverna de Dracula is a must fir romanian cuisine
The Double Room with Private Bathroom is an interesting room with a very high ceiling, on the top floor of an old house full of character, located near the center of Tivoli. Breakfast is provided in the room. The room and the bathroom were nice and clean, and there's a good air conditioner in the room. We liked the roof-top terrace. Giovanni is a very friendly, helpful host. He seems to know everyone in the neighborhood, and introduced us to them as he helped us to bring our bags up from the car when we arrived.
We (two couples) had one small room with a beautiful view and one larger room without a view. Both rooms were clean and comfortable. We enjoyed a nice breakfast in a pretty room with a view. Andreas made us feel welcome and was happy to make recommendations. It was a hike to the restaurants but we preferred to leave our car parked at the property as parking in Tivoli is difficult. The beautifully restored 1800's house and the panoramic view made us happy with our choice of accommodation.
Beyond my expactations! Nice and helpful owner, beautiful place with the terrace facing the square and church. do-it-yourself breakfast with all that may be needed (even prepared if you want cappuccino). Really quiet room in an old building made this stay the most comfortable one during the trip. Choose it if you want to feel the Tivoli vibe. PS check out the restaurant downstairs! Greetings to nonna! :)
The rooms were attractive, modern, clean, and comfortable. They had the best air conditioning we have found in Italy so far! Fillipo was very helpful in greeting us when we arrived, helping find an appropriate parking lot for the car, helping us get a dinner reservation, and carrying our bags up the two flights of stairs. He went above and beyond! I highly recommend if you find yourself in Tivoli!
The room was very large and comfortable. Central location in the historic part of Tivoli, close to Villa D'Este and Villa Gregoriana, strategically located to visit the city. Close to many dining locations, but very quiet in a small side street. Also conveniently close to the public parking of Piazza Massimo.
The host was very helpful to make our accommodation comfortable.
Perfect apartment in really good location. You will find everything you need in the kitchen (e.g. you don't need to worry about kitchen soap, paper towels, basics utensils or pots). Matress in the bedroom is super comfortable. Flat is quiet but close to restaurants, bars, bakery. Tivoli is beautiful city, calm and with good connection to Rome.
Really the best place to stay at in Tivoli, it made our stay perfect. The owner was so welcoming and helpful throughout the stay. Beautiful rooms with excellent breakfast buffet. Also very close to the centre of the town to have an apperitivo on the piazza. Ask for reservations at restaurant Sibylla through the staff.
The apartment was clean, tidy, and comfortable enough for our short stay (kitchen is a little too small for preparing dinner). It's very well located too. Francesco was welcoming, very helpful with places to see and do around Tivoli, and with free parking nearby. We really appreciated the Smart TV available as well.
I loved this lovely hotel. Wonderful location within walking distance to everywhere. Street parking was not a problem and you only pay from 8:00 to 17:00 at the meter, free overnight so run about $20 per day. The breakfast was fantastic, and served in a nice room with an outside courtyard. Would highly recommend!
very secluded in the countryside but a short taxi run into Tivoli, 30min train ride into Rome, excellently situated if you want to visit Rome but want to avoid the “in city” hotels (mega expensive) and relax after a hectic day by the magnificent pool.
The room is amazing with access to top terrace. The jacuzzi in your bathroom adds the extra luxury and makes sure you relax after a hot day in beautiful Tivoli. Our host was beyond nice and helpful with all attractions available to do in area
Fantastic place in the old part of Tivoli. Large rooftop-terrace, spacious apartment, very well equipped kitchen and, last but not least, a friendly and helpful host. And even though you are in the center of the town, this is a quiet place!
Property is located in the medieval section of Tivoli. You are next to Villa D'Este. Communication with hosts was easy. They helped us also to find a free parking for the car in the area. We liked apartment setup and the breakfast.
The location was perfect for us to visit Tivoli. We ate dinner in the restaurant, which was also fabulous. The staff were fantastic. Fresh eggs cooked for us at breakfast. We just loved it! Great room. Free parking on site.
Comfy beds, fab air con, plenty of towels annd pillows, and a perfect location in Tivoli. The host couldn't have been more helpful or polite. She offered to get an iron for us and helped with a taxi booking we needed. 5*!
Super stylish pad in the heart of Tivoli. Comfortable bed and couch. Loved the rooftop terrace. Great place I would highly recommend. We stayed here three nights and it was just perfect.
