Charming tourist town with friendly people and great choice of restaurants. There was a lot of construction and construction noise on the Main Street during our visit which prevented us from exploring the whole town.

If I was 25 and wanted to drink all day, it might be the place for a vacation. Lots of bars and clubs. I food is ok if you can get pass the barkers in the street. If you get out of city central, you can find some lovely beaches, but they are packed with people. We stayed in town for 5 days and two days on an out Island. Be prepared for many of the three- and four-star hotels have no AC. I have traveled all over the world; this would be on the bottom of my list. They haven't taken care of the environment or the waters that bring people to this location.

Be sure to wear the right shoes walking around Bocas Town, as it can get muddy and there's currently construction in town for a new sewer system. While the locals can be a bit assertive and follow you around offering you tour options (and drugs), they'll back off if you say no thanks. Do not drink the tap water and ask for filtered water stations (I also stuck with beer & wine versus mixed drinks with ice). A group from my hostel rented E-bikes which was the right choice to visit Bluff Beach, which made for a great afternoon.

Right now the streets are under construction….
Right now the streets are under construction…. And I mean ALL the streets. It’s tough on the tourism industry for that reason. There may not have been as many people visiting as there normally would be at that time of year. However, don’t let that stop you from going. It’s a fantastic place to visit. So much to se and do. Excellent restaurants.

Bocas del Toro is an overestimated island, public infrastructure is awful, with mud, and potholes everywhere, very difficult to walk and get anywhere. Prices of the hotels and restaurants are slightly exaggerated in my view.

Bocas Town, in contrast with where we were staying on Colon Island, is a disaster. Dirty and messy, full of litter in the streets, people not caring about it at all. As it is a port, I cannot imagine staying here and swimming in the water full of (not only) boats’ wastes. Waste and hygiene management of the place is almost zero. Engines after their life time used to transport tourists island to island, this way, the beauty and diversity of archipelago is soon going to be a history.
The facilities and architecture are 10/10! Felt like we where in Bali, amazing place to disconnect, surf and relax. The hotels location is a bit off the crowd of bocas town, which is great, and right in front an amazing surf peak. the yoga studio and spa were super nice as well. rooms were clean and adequate. food quality was good, but since the hotel is far from the city the menu could have been more extensive. we ended up ordering sushi and pizza for delivery and going out just because the menu got boring
It is a beautiful tropical type hotel. It has 29 rooms. They are kept so clean. The A/C unit blows hard and produces ice cold air. The summer months from May 15th until September 15th are brutal in terms of heat and humidity. This hotel is right in the middle of town. Everything was GREAT : Staff, facilities, room condition, mattresses, location, and amenities. The restaurant in the back of the hotel is right on the water. Spectacular views, delicious food, and reasonable prices.
The hotel and its location is great! The breakfast was delicious in the over water restaurant with its amazing view. We really enjoyed our stay in dolphin bay and saw some dolphins on our way there and in the evening. The new owners of the hotel are great, they are caring, really helpful and super nice! They try to make everything perfect for you. For lunch and dinner you can order food in the restaurant. The food in the restaurant is really good! We want to come back.
The property is right on the bay with great views. Our rooms were really large suites. A happy surprise. Staff more than friendly and very cooperative. You get breakfast tickets for a restaurant a few meters up the road right on the water. Great breakfast. An excellent place to stay in Bocas Town. (It's also directly across the road from a water taxi/ tour operator who speaks great English and will arrange transport to anywhere on the island plus to local islands.
Gorgeous new hostel/hotel right on the water (patio is over the water). Shared private room options for multiple adults which was great. Lots of outdoor lounge space - never too crowded. Nice variety of food/drink at the restaurant. On the edge of the 'downtown street' but easily walkable to all restaurants/cafes.
Excellent luggage storage options. daily activities coordinated by the staff - can sign up and pay if you opt to join in.
Anya went above and beyond to make us feel like we were at home. The location is amazing. A 1 dollar boat ride from Bocas town takes you to her home over the water. We spent most days swimming right off the dock. Anya has a wonderful phylosophy.." Your happiness feeds my soul ". She lives it ! Go stay at Riva's! It will be one of the best experiences of your travels.
The Gran Hotel Bahia is a lovely property located in the heart of Bocas town. It is a historical building with lots of character and an amazing 2nd floor veranda. No, there is no pool, but that is not what this property is pretending to be. The staff was wonderful and we had a great stay.
We loved the open reception/ eating area as it was very welcoming and breezy.
The staff were so friendly and the owners were engaging and helpful.
The hotel is nice and clean and the breakfast options were good.
Water taxi's were easy to flag down and were just $1 to Bocas Town.
Lovely location on the water. Superb breakfast every day; best I've ever had at a B and B. Great AC and comfy rooms. Very pleasant and welcoming common area with a small, well equipped kitchen. Very helpful and friendly owners. And being right on the water is a true joy!
Sea Monkey only has 2 rooms, which is great. Both located on the water, a bit outside Old Banks. The room is big, with a spacious bathroom. We really loved the friendly staff! Always there when U need something or have a question!
The terrace is amazing for sunsets.
Beautiful and rustic, don’t expect anything luxurious here it’s glamming over water. The staff was great, it’s a bit of a jaunt from town water taxis are very expensive so be prepared. I would stay again but two days is more than enough.
Right on the beach, 10 minutes walk from playa de estrellas.
Beautiful Room and balcony.. Restaurant at hand on the property. Easy to reach by public bus, takes you literally right to the hotel from bocas Central for $2.
Amazing calm place, built right on the water with a beautiful view and a little private beach... the hostel is very tiny (only 2 dorms with 4 beds each i think). Martha is also very nice!
The hotel is very well located is on the water very near water taxi. Very clean and comfortable!
Sharol was very kind and in general everyone was friendly very willing to help.
Everything was phenomenal - the hotel was exceptional, right on the beach, with a private pool and bar area. The breakfast was amazing and the staff were simply outstanding
The hotel is right in the Bocas town center, super close to everywhere. The room was very nice and clean. I can definitely recomend this place. Excelent value for the money
