Amazing location, friendly staff, a lot of animals around. Kangaroos and parrots were our guests every evening. Also not far from the house were Emus and deers. We rented a one-bedroom cabin and it was comfortable. This place exceeded my expectations, highly recommend it.

Amazing location and facilities, everything was set up nicely, instructions were clear and the location was very clean. The location awesome, both nights we had kangaroos in the backyard and once in the front. Easy to find and access the property too!
Each of these chalets features timber ceilings, a modern kitchen, polished wooden floors and a spacious living area that leads out to a wide veranda, where you can watch kangaroos and deer wander...

Love nature so enjoyed visiting MacKenzie Falls which has paths to viewing points for people of all abilities; even has a “resident” emu!
Plenty of places for hiking.
Halls Gap Zoo is a fabulous place to visit with so many birds and animals to see and interact with.
Good choice of places to eat - we particularly thought The Kookaburra Hotel and the Halls Gap Hotel Bistro were particularly good with great food, great service, great atmosphere and great staff. Avoid Halls Gap Tavern at all costs!
Plenty of accommodation options in most price ranges
(best to avoid Kookaburra Lodge Motel if you want value for money and want even the bare minimum of housekeeping!)
Basic shopping centre … but they DO have great ice cream and tasty fish and chips available there and a big playground for families with younger children.
Beware the kangaroos as you drive around, they are everywhere at any given time of the day.
Beautiful place to relax and enjoy.

Absolutely stunning, it had been years since i was there last and once again the friendliness of all the staff at the shops and attractions around could not be faulted.
Let alone the food options in and around Halls Gap - Barneys Barn - Pomonel Estate , Indian , boutique beers and ciders, there are so many , you will never go hungry.
The local Zoo is a highlight- go the extra mile and book a animal experience - Red Pandas are adorable.
Halls Gap is a gem of Victoria and is well worth the visit. There is something there for everyone, you can be as active or as relaxed as you prefer.

The Grampians National Park is excellent for walking and hiking at any time of the year. Halls Gap has a variety of accommodation types from camping to higher end. There are various places to eat, from usual so-so pub food to good quality food including vegan. We are at the Kookaburra which had excellent food (including vegetarian) served with delicious vegetables rather than chips and The Spirit of Punjabi which always serves excellent food (by robot now!). It also has a range of delicious vegan dishes. If you are into art and creativity check out Grampians Textures and Grampians Brushes - both are packed full of excellent workshops.

The tourist information centre was helpful but wasn't quite up to speed with some trail closures which appear.tto have been made some time ago.
Overall Halls Gap is a great place to stay for an adventure break.

I love the Grampians.
I love the Grampians. Lots of lovely walks and scenery and Halls Gap has great restaurants. Unfortunately the cultural centre is closed and sone of the galleries in the areas were not open . But the wineries are worth a visit and certainly the Hall’s Gap pub. Excellent chef with great food and views .

Halls Gap Zoo was excellent - casual and all the keepers were very friendly, informative and helpful.
The many local sights were amazing.
Beware! Most businesses close early - not easy to find food after 6 pm!
The boutique shopping area, although small, was excellent.
Cute 3BR house in halls gap. Short drive to main shops or easy walk. Spotless and recently renovated. Good electronic communication. Easy access. Reverse aircon great as house was very hot on arrival. Cools the main bedroom n lounge quickly. The one bathroom spotless. Nice touch w bottle of wine. Outdoor area great w excellent bbq. Resident kookaburra always on lookout for scraps. Did not use washing machine but looked very new. Coonara looked inviting w plenty of wood supplied.
Good place for a family w kids.
My family and I love Halls Gap and after trying a few accommodations over the years found The Halls Gap Motel and have never looked anywhere else. The owners are beyond kind and friendly. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable! You can easily walk to town and restaurants. And at night, when the weather suits, the fire pit is such a highlight. Kangaroos around you, toasting marshmallows, sometimes meeting other guests with mountain views. We all love it!
Loved the size and convenience of 2 bathrooms. Lots of towels for bathrooms. Great kitchen and size with plenty of pantry items and cooking utensils/crockery to be used. Bedrooms/beds really comfortable and lovely bed linen. Nice touches in the home for our arrival. Great location close to town, only 10 min walk to cafes/restaurants along a safe walking path. Lots of Australian wildlife popped by to say hello. Also loved that we could take our furry family member :)
The location was perfect a nice 20 minutes stroll into Halls Gap. The log cabin was so comfortable clean and bed super comfy. It had a well equipped kitchen, and an added bonus of heating in the spa bathroom.Adequate supplies of towels and bathroom accessories also supplied.
The surrounds of the cabins are kept immaculate. We didn’t need to light the wooden fire, but wood, fire lighters all supplied if needed. There is of course reverse cycle heating and coolant.
Omg, we actually booked Day Dream, but due to some maintenance issues, we were put in to Kingfisher 3.
Wow, wow, wow !
Could not believe such a cosy, perfect cottage was going to be our home while in Halls Gap.
Thankyou Jo, you were informative and there for our questions! We are returning and probably going to rent out Blue Wren as well for the 8 of us to be side by side cabins !!
Thankyou for our lovely time there Jo xx
Very friendly and accommodating hosts. Clean and tidy and well-presented unit. Cooking facilities included microwave, toaster, kettle etc. Bed comfy. Shower pressure pretty good. Facilities on site included an indoor heated pool, gym and pool table as well as some bike hire (although we didn't use them). Location is a short walk to the Halls Gap Hotel, but a longer walk to the main shopping/tourist area.
Loved this place! Friendly, helpful hosts on arrival. They gave us great advice on hikes, eating places etc.
Room was spacious, modern, complete with spa. Parking was easy.
Outside was clean, with well manicured lawns - kangaroos enjoying the location too.
Plus Laundry facilities! Washing machines and Driers- No extra Charge!
Location perfect, house was set in a quiet tree studded street, very picturesque. Close to the town but felt like we were secluded. The spa bath was a welcome extra after long days hiking. Hosts rang to let us know the drive was damaged by the rains but we could still use it. Allowed us early check in. We'll be back.
The cottage and setting were perfect for a rural stay. The cottages are well separated so you feel you are alone. The grounds are abundant with wildlife. The location was perfect for exploring the northern end of the Grampians. Halls Gap is a short drive away and has several food options.
Excellent location close to Halls Gap center (walking distance) but not close to the main road - very quiet location.
Plenty of wildlife visiting the property, such as kookaburras, kangaroos, and white parrots.
The kitchen was well-equipped with all appliances and utensils.
The cabins were well kitted, fresh and new, with a fireplace in each cabin. Extra effort was made to accommodate a disabled guest.
Loved the environment with kangaroo, Emus and birdlife surrounding the motel.
Our best accommodation experience in Halls Gap to date.
Great time in this caravan park. A short walk away from the halls gap hotel. Very comfortable cabins and very warm. Fire pit outside was great to sit by in the evenings. Emus, kangaroos and deer all running through the open areas of the park.
Great communication with owners- very attentive. Super location; house well equipped, especially the kitchen. Lots of windows and light. Cozy feel. Easy walk to town. Definitely recommend!
Good location close to Halls Gap, zoo and main roads to Ararat and Stawell. Parking available directly out front of room. Large grounds to walk around with shady trees.
