Faro is the picturesque capital of the Algarve region, offering colourful streets and buildings, Moorish influence, and typical Portuguese charm. It is encompassed by the lagoon of Ria Formosa Natural Park, and offers wide beaches, a laid-back atmosphere, and a vibrant nightlife.
Occupied by Phoenicians and Carthaginians, and once an important Roman harbour and Moorish culture capital, it was almost flattened by the 1755 earthquake. Happily, the historic centre survived and is today one of best preserved in Algarve. Choosing a hotel in Faro’s Old Town will allow you to have a more authentic Portuguese experience.
The long, sandy beach of Praia de Faro is 7 km from the city, and the beach on Barreta Island –also known as Deserta - is probably the most tranquil in the region. Hotels near the beach in Faro and the surrounding towns of Olhão, Tavira, Quinta do Lago, Quarteira and Vilamoura, are all excellent ways to enjoy sunny Portugal.
Faro International Airport offers connections throughout Europe, and the city also offers ferry, railway, and bus links. Whether you need a beach resort or a hotel near Faro Airport, check out the wide offer available on Booking.com!

It's a lived-in, working city and doesn't pretend to put tourists at the forefront. However, tourists are well-catered for and I've spent a few happy days wandering the town on several occasions. Just wear sturdy shoes and have a little torch handy as the pavements/kerbs are no fun!

Lovely parts of this city near Marina, and while there seems to be lots of regeneration the city is quite run down in parts and a huge amount of graffiti. Lovely shopping streets and cafes, and a trip to both the Mar and Forum Algarve shopping centres a great way to spend a few hours. Nice restaurants in marina area and small parks. Well worth a visit but two days here is plenty.

Great for just strolling - some of the back streets are magical. People very friendly and very proud of their city. Take the ferry to Cacilhas and try one of the fish restaurants in the main village there. Go to tourist information and you may want to go further.
In Faro we ate at 8 Tapas, the Tavern, and Velha Casa - just what we wanted with delightful staff. Octopus at the Tavern with two crazy waiters was superb.

I am certain I must have reviewed Faro before, but I doubt I will ever tire of the place so I guess whatever I say about it will always be through those eyes... A city, full of hustle and bustle and yet you can always find somewhere to sit, watch life and reflect... Storks are nesting everywhere, you can almost touch the Trains as they rumble through alongside the river, you can see the Airport and the centrally placed bus station will take you here there and everywhere... It has a proper old bit, with walls and everything, including nesting storks and gorgeous architecture... It has functional bits, the commercial centre, it has a Marina, it has culture, it is a proper City full of real life... You may have guessed already I love it 'ALL'... Alan

Compact and historical. easy to walk round the cobbled streets. Lovely old buildings in the old town, museum and cathedral worth a visit. Some good bars/reataurants. We love the one on the marina (O Cortona) Good food and service, excelent location. Best thing is it is next to the Ria Formosa natural park so plenty of wildlife, bird spotting. Boat trip is a must.

Good for 3 days/ 2 nights - get out to the beaches and islands - cheapest way is by ferry to Praia de Faro - just a few euros.
City is small enough to walk around. Check out 100 Montaditos for cheap snacks
The beds and pillows were SO comfortable! The room and bathroom were both very spacious and exceptionally clean which I really liked. I got sick and the staff was wonderful! I so wish I could remember the young woman at the front desk who went above and beyond and helped get me a taxi to a great private clinic. Hotel Faro was a great place to rest and recover. Also want to mention the incredible breakfast offering that comes with the price of the room. The sunset views from the rooftop were amazing. I would definitely choose this hotel again!
The staff was extremely friendly and had a ton of great information about what to do in and around Faro. There is also free coffee and other hot drinks available in a side room just off the reception desk. The rooms were very clean, very quiet and we had more than enough space. The kitchen comes equipped with a variety of kitchen ware that allows you to cook your own meals if you wish and the tea selection was excellent. Loved the peaceful view out on the large balcony as well. Will return to this hotel next time we are in Faro.
We stayed for two days and enjoyed our stay before moving to a villa for a week. The day of our return to the UK we found left luggage at the airport not working. Since we had a late flight we returned to the hotel and asked if they would keep our luggage for the day. They agreed for which we are extremely grateful!! We had a relaxing day in Faro and were able to eat and drink at the quayside bar making for a relaxed final day . Thank you to your staff
The hostel is a 20-minute walk from the airport, and its planes are rarely heard. The hostel garden offers tables, chairs and a washing line, and is a good sun trap. 3 bus lines to the city lie 15 minutes away (cost 2E85). The suburb of Montenegro, 15 minutes away, offers cafes, pubs with food, a restaurant and a supermarket, - a slice of suburban Portugal, with low prices. It is pleasantly relaxed.
Staff , young but very professional and friendly , young lady and young guy at reception , excellent team ! Great immediate welcome at front of house ...5 star ! Rooftop pool with jacuzzi , fab and the amazing views from the restaurant/bar ..comfy beds and great choice and selection for breakfast . Could not fault the hotel , would recommend for 1 or 2 nights stay in Faro.
Valentina is a kind host and gave me a warm welcome into her B&B. The room is comfortable and the accomodation location is very close to the Faro bus and train stations and the restaurants. She also gave very good information of the covid situation in Portugal and made me feel comfortable. She responds very quickly to messages which I also greatly appreciate!!
The location was in the heart of the old city, and perfect. Very close to bus and train stations. The room had a refrigerator, which I have found lacking in Portugal rooms. Also a hair dryer. The staff, especially Chef and Stella, went out of their way to ensure that my room was what I’d booked on booking.com.
Excellent location (approx. 3mins walk to the train which takes to Albufeira and Lagos). Very clean and quiet rooms with lovely view of Faro Old town. Free complementary coffee also was great. Staff friendly and helpful. Was my first time in Portugal so staying here made it enjoyable and commuting with ease.
If you’re looking to stay on the beach in Faro, this is the spot. Steps away from the beach with a great bar and restaurant. Best of all is the staff. From reception to wait staff, everyone was friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic but are clean and the bed was comfortable.
This is an excellent hotel well located in the centre of Faro. The staff are tremendously welcoming and helpful. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was very good value. The complementary spa facilities also make this hotel a perfect base for a short stay in Portugal.
Hotel was very clean and tidy. Breakfast was great value for money. Staff were all superb. The reception staff were so helpful, friendly and professional. It was my first time in Faro and Portugal and the reception staff were extremely helpful. They advised on places to visit.
Great little hotel within walking distance to the airport. We used it as had a morning flight and the location is excellent. There is a supermarket nearby with a small cafe and good delicatessen for food. Will certainly use the hotel again if flying to or from Faro airport.
The off season value was great! Can't beat the location, this place is the best.Love the snack bar with coffee. Its really the best place to stay in Faro flying in, super close to the airport, right on the beach, close to food, buses, and ferry into town.
A good hotel in a central location, close to the airport, bars, restaurants, and cafes. A short walk from the old town and the centre of Faro. A nice interior, with good kitchen facilities. The hotel staff are great and they're always available to help.
Really nice terrace with amazing view. Flat is cute and clean - with small bathroom and kitchen. It's really close to historical center of Faro. Owner was really helpful, thank you for such a nice welcome to Portugal!.
Great hotel situated between Faro city and the beach. Note that you'll need a taxi or bus for the beach, but overall, it's a convenient location for city and seaside exploration.
Great hotel with easy access, confortable and nice rooms, nice personnel, great quality and good price, good location: 10min from the center of Faro and 10min from the airport.
The hotel was brand new and the start was veruit kind. The room was verf clean and I enjoyed my stay at 3hb Faro! I would highly recommand this hotel to other people.
