Beautiful place, even just by stepping outside the room you'll be surround by beautiful snowy mountains. There is sufficient eateries, shops and supermarkets to cater to visitor needs. Before visiting Grindelwald I had only seen pictures of it in Spring and Summer so I was a bit apprehensive when I booked but it far exceeded our expectations. Its a wonderful place to stay in and we could've stayed here much longer.

I adored my hotel and the spectacular views.
I adored my hotel and the spectacular views. The First slopes were great and relaxing, the snow conditions amazing. One off-putting aspect was that there was a crazy traffic jam on the last 5-10km to Grindelwald on my way up there, and the same thing on the way home.

I always hesitate to sing Grindelwald’s many praises because I don’t want the secret to get out and for it to be overrun. However, each year that I return sees more and more visitors, so I suppose it’s not a secret anymore. For hiking, relaxing, and other activities, this is my heaven on earth. It is a special rural place with warm and friendly people, surrounded by sky scraping peaks that have you constantly bewildered by the landscape around you. It feels like coming home each time I visit, and I highly recommend it as a place to recharge your batteries and revel in the splendor of Earth’s beauty.

The information provided 15 minutes walk from the station is incorrect. The property is up on the hills, if you travel with suitcase you will push for an hour to get to the property. Their is a bus 112 from the train station and stop outside the hostel but we were not told when asked how to get to the hostel, the respond was bus or taxi without advising bus number. We and other travellers pushed our large suitcase for an hour uphill, was terrible experience. When arrive at the hostel, very rude receptionist greet us with un zipped. The common and breakfast area was nice but the room and linen were terrible, I have not stated in a poor service hostel like this one.

Excellent location to make your base for touring the Jungfrau region. Good mix of shops/restaurants and nature/sightseeing. You have the option of staying in town or more peace and quite at outer edges. Access to a lot of activities including skiing, paragliding, etc. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Con would be, area is very touristy and a bit expensive.
Location was perfect, in a quiet space that was a short walk from the center of Grindelwald. Staff were extremely friendly, we had a large room with a great view! We did not use the spa facilities, but imagine that would be a great addition to the stay. Breakfast was nice with a lot of various options for different diets. We stayed here the night before a local race, and the hotel started breakfast 1.5 hours earlier to accomodate the racers, which was very nice. Parking was free, rooms were large with plenty of storage space.
Love this place so much! The rooms are extra large and special, and the mountains are just outside the balcony! The view is picturesque. The house is over 120 years old and it was a pleasure to stay here, Gery and michel were exceptionally nice! The hotel breakfast was rich and delicious, and you can also buy tickets for excursions to the Jungfrau directly here. Thanks also to Gery for driving to the train station to pick us up. All in all, fell in love with Grindelwald because of this hotel!
Hotel is simply great! From location to rooms to breackfast to cleanness, to staff kindness, ...everything perfect.
Just remember to book a table for dinner at check-in time. It's very easy in Grindelwald to find all restourants fully booked, including the restourant of this hotel.
The pool is allowed to children just in the morning. Better to prepare your children's expectations.
We loved the hotel, it exceeded our expectations multiple times. The interior in the shared spaces and in the room is very modern and well-balanced although you are in a traditional chalet. From the room, we had direct access to the balcony with a mountain view and a view over Grindelwald. The beds are super comfy, which is perfect after a long hike. A huge recommendation!
It is a unique hotel located right next to the Gondola station to Grindelwald First. It has traditional Switzerland style interriors. The room was large and clean. Also the breakfast which is included in the fee was spectacular and people were very kind. You can also have lunch and dinner at Restaurant alte post in front of the hotel at a reasonable price.
The location was lovely and the view of the mountain view room was wonderful. The price considering that it was in Grindelwald was also quite reasonable. When we asked if we could borrow a water heater for some tea in the room, they gladly lent us one. The walk from the hotel to the Terminal was also pretty and not too long! Super nice and quiet location.
Check-in staff were very friendly and incredibly helpful. Location was excellent, close in proximity to Grindelwald First visitor's centre. Our room looked onto the highstreet and mountains which was lovely. Lots of restaurants close by and around a 10 - 15 minute walk to the train station which was ideal. The main hotel (from what we saw) was beautiful.
Great location, and value for the cost. Higher end than a typical hotel. Informative staff, who were all super friendly and interested in our good experience. Easy to reach train stations. They recommended a bus, but both Grindelwald stations were only an 8 minute walk, so no need for a bus. Oh, and great views from the room.
Good location, only one bus stop away from the main train station. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel. Easy access to the Grindelwald terminal (the terminal for the gondola of the Eiger express) and also close to the cable car for Grindelwald First station. Our room had a very good view over looking the mountain.
The staff is amazing and the hotel has a long history. The food is amazing and worth adding the dinner! We enjoyed one of our favorite meals in Switzerland there. The pool and hot tub views are incredible. The front desk scheduled our tickets for paragliding and took great care of us. We loved it here.
Fantastic location, right in the heart of Grindelwald. Wonderful spacious room with astonishing views. The hotel has some excellent facilities and I would recommend a meal at Barry's Restaurant, the food was excellent. Staff we super helpful. This is an excellent hotel, highly recommended.
Brilliant hotel. Lovely views, clean and comfortable rooms.
Staff are kind and helpful and lovely to talk to.
Food is outstanding both at breakfast and at dinner time.
Free bus into Grindelwald centre is fantastic and so easy. Every quater of an hour to the the town and to the station.
thank you so much. I will return with my husband next time. excellent breakfast, location, friendly staff. incredible views from the spa and the single room I booked. my favorite hotel in Switzerland so far. I enjoyed my 5 night stay very much.
Lovely hotel. Modern meets cozy. Beautiful decor and very good location. Close enough to everything and they give you few local tips. Steps to Grindelwald First.
Dinner was Michelin level, hospitality and attention to detail was superb.
Beautiful view from the hotel, you could see mountain hills and villages it's like fairyland. Breakfast is great so delicious. The owner of the hotel are so friendly. The location is very near the train station of Grindelwald.
The interior of the hotel is a bit dated but overall ok. The location is very good because it is between the train station and grindelwald First cable car. Breakfast has a wide selection too.
Great view, and nice hotel location which is next to bus stop and in front of the Grindelwald First station. Overall experience is pleasant and Grindelwald is a beautiful village.
The hotel was situated in a good location walkable from Grindelwald Bahnhof and walkable to Firstbahn. The room was charming, cosy, spacious and clean.
