In Fishguard to take ferry to Ireland so didn't see much of it. Looks a nice coastal town but obviously the ferry port overwhelms the town.
If using the ferry services directions are clear and plenty of space to park and wait if arrive early.
Stayed overnight in The Ferryboat which was lovely and highly recommended.

A lovely little town and great base to explore local sites and coves. Great walking, lovely quaint streets, easy shopping at the CoOp. Exploring pathways and surrounds was fascinating.
A short drive to St David’s. We were there mainly for the Challenge Fishguard Triathlon. A great event.

Fishguard is a relatively small port/leisure town in North Pembrokeshire. There are pleasant walks and old properties and chapels. Good views out to the hills and sea from various viewpoints, Shopping choices are somewhat limited but there is a largeish Co op Stores and many independents. There is a pleasant cafe facing the Square opposite St Mary's Church (Bopty Cafe) and the Royal Oak Pub has a large terrace to the rear with sea views and offers a variety of food and drink with an outside bar in good weather, Live jazz was being played outside when I visited, there was a soap box derby and fair in the park and a number of other folk and music/dancing events which made for a happy and civilised summer feel. A walk along the breakwater at Goodwick is pleasant or a day trip to Ireland on the ferry. There is a good local cinema showing many current films and live showings. The gallery along west street (Miles Pepper) is worth a trip. Check out the Fishguard Music Festival in September and Aberjazz in the Spring.

Distance between dock, village, train station and waterfront...
Distance between dock, village, train station and waterfront are quite large, so transport is needed. Some sort of shuttle service would be great as it is often windy and wet, so walking would be challenging.

If you catch the tide right it's possible to swim in the sea...
If you catch the tide right it's possible to swim in the sea at Fishguard, which I always really enjoy. There is lovely countryside around with some stunning coastal scenery. Footpaths all over the place although it's quite easy to get lost if you don't have a good OS map! My first night I ate at "Hot Chilli", the Indian restaurant. I had the vegetable Biriani which was tasty and good value for money - in fact the portion was too much for me really... On my second night I ate at the Royal Oak, starting with some nice pea and dill soup; then a Greek Salad, which was very nice, although I shouldn't really eat so much (feta) cheese! The town of Fishguard is on a big hill, with the beach and harbour/prt down at the bottom. So if you don't have a car you can do lots of hill-walking. There are buses up and down the hill if you manage to catch one. I had a ticket for a jazz concert on my second evening which I really enjoyed. Peppers is a very friendly and relaxed venue. They have occasional jazz concerts three, also during the annual Jazz Festival, Aberjazz, over the August Bank Holiday. There's also a folk festival in may I believe, with gigs in different pubs and venues e.g. Theatr Gwaun, around the town and in othere North Pembrokeshire villages too.
I loved the home, the room accommodations, the hospitality and the host!! I was warmly welcomed and had a wonderful stay in this lovely and charming place. My room and bathroom were clean and comfortable, and I had everything I needed. I was close to the bus station and a good pub for dinner.
The common area was comfortable and well stocked. I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed my stay. I hope to be back one day!!
Thank you, Steve, for everything!!!
The B&B was very clean, comfortable and well appointed. We stayed for one night before catching the ferry the following day. Excellent location for both the ferry port just a few minutes drive away. Arriving mid afternoon we had the opportunity to walk a short length of the coastal path to Lower Town and then back into the centre of Fishguard for a drink and a meal early evening, all very accessible on foot from the property.
This is a chic period hotel in the heart of Fishguard, which has been recently beautifully renovated. Our room was spacious, comfortable and superbly decorated, with everything we could possibly want (tea-making facilities, Netflix etc.) But the crowning glory of this place is that it is owned and run by a chef, and the evening meal and breakfast we had were to die for. A great place!!
The communication with the host was excellent.
Lovely welcome pack on arrival.
The kitchen was extremely well equipped for a short break. It had everything you needed.
The small cottage was cosy.
Excellent location in the middle of Fishguard. Free parking was a welcome bonus.
Entry and instructions were easy and getting in was very smooth.
The place was clean.
We had an amazing stay in Fishguard, it was cozy and in a great location to explore!
breakfast was perfect, you get a lovely fruit platter and a full breakfast + cereals available!! so generous.
The couple who runs this B&B are super sweet and friendly, they could answer any questions we had about the area, thank you!!
This is a small but comfortable hotel. The attached restaurant is excellent. We had the best meals of our two week visit to the UK here. The hotel and restaurant are owned and run by the chef. He holds himself to a very high standard. They were very friendly and helpful. I was very pleased with our stay.
We know Fishguard very well. We had seen the cottage in our earlier explorations, and knew that it was well located. The garden was the best part of the cottage. It was very quiet and we were happy to 'migrate' from the upper terrace to the lower terrace (and listen to the birds). Good bathroom.
Check in was a breeze as everything was done by text messaging with fast response. We had a parking space almost right next to our room which was convenient. We stayed in room 10 and room 13. Room 13 was spacious and looked more modern than 10, but both rooms were clean with comfortable bed.
A small cottage in the hills above Fishguard with stunning local views, fairly basic furnishings, well stocked galley style kitchen, good bathroom and wifi, private and peaceful, basic shopping needs in nearby Fishguard and larger supermarkets in Haverfordwest.
Perfect cottage stay. Spacious living area opens onto beautiful garden setting. Well heated and ventilated, full kitchen a bonus. Excellent location for ferry transfer, walking distance to Fishguard and local supermarket. Staff were very accommodating.
I loved the feeling of "not the hotel feeling" . Like you are a guest in a person's home. Which in some ways is just that. Apart from having to pay of course.
Very welcoming, clean, nice tea and coffee. Access to your own TV, a nice plus.
Fantastic Guesthouse location when looking to overnight in Fishguard when travelling to and from Ireland.
Free parking on-site, wonderful breakfast and owners that were friendly and gave excellent service.
Absolutely value for money.
Steve was a super host, welcoming and so friendly.Very comfortable bed and all necessities provided for. Will definitely be back when in Fishguard again. Thanks Steve for all and the booklet.
Great in town location. Within walking distance of many dining options. Also great hiking options. Easy drive to other Welsh treasures, particularly spectacular is St. David.
The view was spectacular and the bed and accommodations were very comfortable! Our host was friendly and helpful and we wished we could have spent more time in this lovely area!
Comfy bed. Peter, the owner, was helpful and friendly. Don't forget to ring hotel if you arrive by train. He will pick you up. And breakfast was lovely.
