The only way to get from the arrival area to your hotel is...
The only way to get from the arrival area to your hotel is to walk along the beach with your luggage or by boat. When the seas are ruff and there are no boats you must carry your luggage through the sand and water. Depending where your hotel is, that could be a mile. Horrible place, instead of the sea breeze you'll enjoy exhaust from the dozens of motorboats and scooters cruising everywhere without any rules. They make a horrible noise all over the day, combined with loud music from each bar it caused a headache. Before 11 am and after 5 pm, it is beautiful. Between those hours, however, there are an overwhelming number of visitors and vendors. The water is full of so many people offering rides on jetskis, banana boats, tour boats, etc, that rather than smell the ocean air you smell gas. If you want peace and quiet you need to trek about 2 kms to the peaceful section of Playa Blanca.

Baru was a big surprise for us in all the right ways. Family of 3 with a 10 year old, stayed 6 days, 2 different hotels. Beautiful white sandy beaches, turquoise colored waters and fresh sea food ( learn your prices and always check before accepting anything). The family time spent there is unforgettable. The people are kind and respectful. The island is safe and after 4pm starts to calm down and at 7-8 pm it's quiet and peaceful. Most people spent a day and leave, but i recommend you stay and do the activities. We did snorkeling and raccon as well as the Plancton (DO NOT MISS IT! ). Hotels Soy Local Baru if you want the authentic and exclusive experience 5⭐️ Nena beach resort AC, pool and beach beds.

Baru is not yet ready for international travelers. The harassment from the local vendors borders on scary (from the parking lot attendants to the beach vendors). The beach is not clean to the standards of other Caribbean beaches (bottle caps, dead fish etc.) Boat and jetski traffic are not controlled, and drive too close to the shore, so the smell of fuel is constantly in the air. If you have been to a top-quality beach anywhere in the world, you will be disappointed by Baru. I hope they make improvements in the coming years.MadhumeetaUnited States of America

Which I think they should have to ta T because it is a beachfront property. Cholon is just on the other island in front and the noice that the boats produce was a bit distracting , but it is not the properties fault in any way. but other than that must say that it was a very good stay.

We did a couple of activities through the hotel and all were great (especially the snorkelling one!). To top it off we had one of the best massages by the beach - highly recommend!

I had a driver collect me, drive me to Baru, where I was met by someone who helped carry my luggage to a boat that took me to the hostel - 10/10 for this part. I also had the same for my return. The location is also great just a few steps from the ocean.
