I love how close the place is to nature, beach is amazing , the rustic cabanas are beautiful .The only thing I didn’t like it were the locals trying to sell their products in a way that can be annoying.

The only way to get from the arrival area to your hotel is to walk along the beach with your luggage or by boat. When the seas are ruff and there are no boats you must carry your luggage through the sand and water. Depending where your hotel is, that could be a mile. There is one tiny bodega on the beach to buy soda and beer and not much else. It’s best for a short stay.

Horrible place, instead of the sea breeze you'll enjoy exhaust from the dozens of motorboats and scooters cruising everywhere without any rules. They make a horrible noise all over the day, combined with loud music from each bar it caused a headache. Food and drinks are extremely expensive, we got poisoned by some food there being sick for 3 days.
Trash is everywhere behind the beach line.

Before 11 am and after 5 pm, it is beautiful. Between those hours, however, there are an overwhelming number of visitors and vendors. The water is full of so many people offering rides on jetskis, banana boats, tour boats, etc, that rather than smell the ocean air you smell gas. If you want peace and quiet you need to trek about 2 kms to the peaceful section of Playa Blanca.

Baru was a big surprise for us in all the right ways.
Baru was a big surprise for us in all the right ways.
Family of 3 with a 10 year old, stayed 6 days, 2 different hotels.
Beautiful white sandy beaches, turquoise colored waters and fresh sea food ( learn your prices and always check before accepting anything).
The family time spent there is unforgettable. The people are kind and respectful. The island is safe and after 4pm starts to calm down and at 7-8 pm it's quiet and peaceful.
Most people spent a day and leave, but i recommend you stay and do the activities. We did snorkeling and raccon as well as the Plancton (DO NOT MISS IT! ).

Baru is not yet ready for international travelers.
Baru is not yet ready for international travelers. The harassment from the local vendors borders on scary (from the parking lot attendants to the beach vendors). The beach is not clean to the standards of other Caribbean beaches (bottle caps, dead fish etc.)
Boat and jetski traffic are not controlled, and drive too close to the shore, so the smell of fuel is constantly in the air.
If you have been to a top-quality beach anywhere in the world, you will be disappointed by Baru. I hope they make improvements in the coming years.
Staff was very, very kind. There were moments that we would have hoped for them to come around more often to see to our needs. Seafood was over cooked 2 nights in a row. Which I think they should have to ta T because it is a beachfront property. Cholon is just on the other island in front and the noice that the boats produce was a bit distracting , but it is not the properties fault in any way. but other than that must say that it was a very good stay.
The property itself is very nice. The rooms felt really modern, lovely bathrooms and good amenities. The beach and bar were great and the staff very accommodating and the food at the hotel was delicious with loads of options to choose from. We did a couple of activities through the hotel and all were great (especially the snorkelling one!). To top it off we had one of the best massages by the beach - highly recommend!
Our stay at Baru Playa Resort is like living on Fantasy Island - beautiful, remote, tranquil, & peaceful. The staff is exceptional, professional and friendly. Captain Edgar is a great boat captain and very friendly. Jorge, the owner, is passionate about quality service and maintaining the rustic island vibe of his beachfront resort. I am so impressed with Jorge and the resort, that I would consider investing in it!
I’ve never been in a place as unique as Las Islas.
The perfect mix between beach, jungle, great food, and comfort.
They treat you like a king and all the activities included are great!
You can bike, walk or use a golf car to move around.
And If you are lucky enough, you can see the beautiful monkeys.
Did I mention they have a private island to have a better and more private place.
Contact from the hostel was great, they arranged the transport from my hotel in Getsemani to the hostel for 100,000. I had a driver collect me, drive me to Baru, where I was met by someone who helped carry my luggage to a boat that took me to the hostel - 10/10 for this part. I also had the same for my return.
The location is also great just a few steps from the ocean.
Very nice family-run hotel in Baru with a private beach and small restaurant which serves delicious food. The hotel has a very cozy and personal atmosphere, thanks to Olga and her team who were very attentive and organized everything we needed for our stay. We can highly recommend this location and hope to be able to come back in the future.
If you are looking for a quiet, chill, and nice place to disconnect. This is your place!
Away from everything with an amazing view, delicious food, friendly staff.
The hotel has everything organised for you.
The activities for the rosario island and plankton and worth! We enjoyed them both
The rooms are comfortable, clean, well equipped.
The best experience in Cartagena than visiting Baru but above all this place is really cozy clean and there is nothing else to talk about its delicious food. Great job for the 2 brothers hosting this great place. It's a great service that smiles woow, definitely, I will come back
Excellent price-quality! They offer a good and complete breakfast, the rooms have air conditioning (something very important given the high temperature), very helpful staff. Great atmosphere with lots of music. Beach next to the hotel. Literally 5 steps away.
The location is just perfect 15 minutes from Playa Blanca which make the stay more quiet.
Private beach.
The staff was very good and helpful.
Staff were always making sure that the hotel stays clean despite the sand.
The hotel is small but in a great location, and the staff was wonderful. They made us feel welcome, also, the food was good. Johan, the manager, was very helpful! Great place to get tours to discover the multiple islands.
A different yet amazing alternative to enjoy Cartagena. This isolated place is the perfect mix between nature, beaches and calm. Olga, really makes everything to give their guests a perfect time. Fully recommend.
I love staying in that marvelous place, Daniel is kind and willing to help in anything you need. He can recommend cheap tours and activities to do around Barú and Islas del Rosario. The food is mouthwatering.
The hotel was very aesthetically pleasing we loved every bit of it.
Beautiful beach wonderful clean pool.
Relaxing and calm vibe.
Sellers aren’t as frequent as if you were somewhere else on the beach
Nothing… Poor up keep of the facility.
I had to book another hotel for my wife and daughter
The bathroom was horrible and the smell
The flys all over the place wat not to my living standers
