To go from the west to east end of the douro river area...
To go from the west to east end of the douro river area there is a north of the river route and a south of the river route. To protect the local culture, I would suggest a push to encourage the tourists to use the south of the river route. It is easier, prettier and about the same travel time. Google maps pushes everything north through the shortest route. The google maps to porto is equally trouble some. It does not suggest only following route 108... It pushes north via local roads to the toll road. An interesting look at the local culture, but I am not sure the effort is worth the stress.PamUnited States of America
