I had great weather while I was there and that made a difference. I was able to take the bus to old town which was a big help. I was fully satisfied on taking in all I could while there. The viator "El Unique" tour was great. I would recommend anyone visiting to book a day trip to the forest.
I enjoyed visiting the Catholic churches and the maritime museum in Old town. Lots of souvenir shops and the forts have so much history. I would go back to Puerto Rico again, but probably the east coast. All in all a very much needed vacay.

PR is close to the mainland and yet you feel as if you are in a foreign country while having familiar restaurants and shops such as Walmart, Burger King, KFC, etc. Driving a rental car is fine but Puerto Ricans use the rules of the road as SUGGESTIONS so be warned. Away from San Juan, the driving is easier though the smaller roads can have LOTS of potholes and be narrow. The highways have tolls so ask for the toll sticker when renting a car. Some cars have Apple car play while others do not so bring your own USB cord and perhaps a suction cup phone holder. It is a beautiful island with a varied topography and it takes just 2 hours to go from north to south.

Loved San Juan!
Loved San Juan! The people, the food, the beaches, the museums, access to the Rainforest! Want to return again and spend more time exploring! Loved the Coronado area, Old San Juan, Calle Cerra street murals, Contemporary Art Museum! Uber is quick and easy!
This was our second visit to Hotel El Convento and our experience all the way around was outstanding. The hotel is close to everything of interest in Old San Juan. The entire staff offered topflight professional service and checking in and out was straightforward and quick. We went to the reception which the hotel manager offers every afternoon and it was enjoyable and relaxing. The views of the bay from the fifth floor (pool area) are spectacular, especially at sunset.
The location is excellent. Close to Condado where you can go to hotels and restaurants. Easy to get to Old San Juan and other excursions that you might like such as El Yunque and Luquillo Beach. Go to one of the hotels and book an excursion for the day. Ubers is the way to go; cheaper than renting a car. Uber is reasonable here. The staff was the best part and breakfast. I loved their coffee and so will you.
Everything! We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were super clean and nice. Hotel staff was amazing and friendly. The pool was our favorite. We paid for private cabana’s everyday and the service was top notch. It’s right on the beach and we loved that it was private. There’s a Ruth Chris right down stairs and we celebrated a birthday at dinner. The resort is so relaxing and fun!
Perfect location!!! Since we arrive at the hotel the check in staff were friendly and professional the room was beautiful and with a San Juan bay view!
Is a gorgeous hotel with shops, restaurants and Cafe, we enjoy the infiniti pool with a Old San Juan view and the servers were super nice we really had a great time we will definitely return.
Amenities at the hotel/resort were the best. A little pricy and have to pay for the breakfast buffet. The only thing that would’ve made this property better is an all inclusive deal. But everything was great - the pool, the pool bar, access to the beach, the cabana ocean view, downstairs bar and casino. Very happy with my hotel choice.
Really pretty, updated hotel. Staff was amazing! So friendly and helpful. I loved walking to Kasaltas each morning for coffee and a pastry. I felt safe in the neighborhood. It was easy and inexpensive to get an Uber to drive us into Old San Juan. We also booked a rainforest and beach trip through Trip Advisor
This hotel was perfect for our trip to San Juan. So close to the beach and we were surprised when we found out the hotel provides chairs, towels, and umbrellas free of charge on the beach. Great restaurants nearby! Super clean and wonderful staff. We will definitely stay here again if we return to San Juan.
Best value we have found in San Juan where we have stayed numerous times and where hotels are generally overpriced and poor. This is the best of its type we have found. Dont be put off by the 3 star rating, This is better than any so called4 star we have stayed at in San Juan. Great overnight hotel.
Decanter Hotel was in the middle of San Juan everything was no more then a 5-10 min walk to all its historic places, places to eat were very close as well. Our balcony view was spectacular we experienced the nightlife, music and amazing view just from our balcony. This hotel was exceptional.
First things first the view is amazing from the room. The infinity pool is right on the beach and also amazing. The Hotel is located in a perfect spot. The hotel is in walking distance from everything or a 10min Uber ride. They also have motorized scooters everywhere.
Great location. Beautifully decorated. Great breakfasts. The people were extremely kind and helpful. Great service. Beautiful rooms. Highly recommend.
The hotel was a small boutique-type hotel. I loved the size and people. Felt like we were part of Old San Juan.
Visiting Puerto Rico, it was key to me to experience Old San Juan and its unique architecture, so I really loved the hotel's building and its old age look and unusual settings. The location is quite good and central in Old San Juan. The room was neat
Nice hotel in a really convenient location, quick drive to Old San Juan, walking distance to everything in Condado and Loiza. Nothing was extraordinary, but everything was very good. No complaints at all
The staff were very nice and accommodating. The hotel was close to the beach, restaurants, CVS, Walgreens, Starbucks and other gift shops. It’s a beautiful place, very cultural of San Juan of old.
I loved the quirkiness. There was something to look at in every angle. In visiting San Juan I wanted to feel the vibe of the old town and this hotel was perfect! I felt immersed.
Meets all reasonable expectations for a two star hotel in the middle of town. Clean. Nice staff. Basic but comfortable rooms. A little street noise but not a real problem.
