I had business to attend to but I walked from the hotel to...
I had business to attend to but I walked from the hotel to the river Tyne then to Ryton village full of old character properties, a very old church and a medieval pen fold. I ate at a local pub. The road outside the hotel has regular buses between Newcastle & Hexham.

I love Ye Olde Cross, the pub in Ryton Village, about 25 minutes walk from Hedgefield House. Ryton also has a decent selection of shops and other pubs. There are lots of local walks that take you away from the main roads, including Addison Village woods, where an entire village existed and was deliberately destroyed after its coal pit had been exhausted. An inspiring area.

Good location with good access to countryside and city alike. Taxi driver was very informative about the area and not expensive at all! Lots of choice for places to eat - Italuan right next door was lovely . Good access to Hadrians Wall
