Very secluded getaway location pretty much designed specifically for wine makers because there wineries for Africa there, but the town lacks in offering much else as a reason to go there unless you’re into tramping (the surrounding areas are tailor made for it) - very little tourist attractions offered in the township compared to nearby Wanaka which punches well above its weight.Daniel - 10Scored 10

It had been 12 years since we last visited Cromwell.
It had been 12 years since we last visited Cromwell. Not surprisingly it had grown and changed significantly - and for the better. The town has a pleasant ambience about it and the people appear very relaxed. Everything one wants is there and there is a comprehensive range of retail and hospitality. Loved Cromwell. So central to everything. We enjoyed wandering around the old town. We were treated so nicely by the people at Five Stags. Always greeted us with a friendly smile and really enjoyed the food.

It is a friendly, well-kept town with fabulous scenery. Very close to Arrowtown and Queenstown without the traffic hassles (especially of Qtown). It has a reasonable number of shops, enough restaurants and pubs. we didn't have kids but there seemed to be plenty of places for them to run around and play. it felt safe and inviting.Louise - 10Scored 10

Great accommodation that was not expensive but very homely and a central location to see and visit the rest of Central Otago. Dined at the Town and Country Club , Carrick Winery, barbequed at our unit.

Our bathroom was equipped with a large tub next to a picture window with a great view, plants, double sinks, instant-on great shower. The breakfast was presented so that we could set our own schedule, and snacks of fruit, chocolate, cold drinks & Nescafe coffee were available all the time for us out in the hall. Jan and Barry made us feel very welcome providing a delicious breakfast with homemade apricot jam and granola. We were biking the Dunstan and the location was perfect for this. We were also able to walk into Cromwell Heritage Precinct which has delightful shops and a great bar Penny Black.
