Just 250 metres from Zenko-ji Temple, Matsuya Ryokan offers simple Japanese rooms with tatami-mat floors, a green-tea maker and an attached Western bathroom. The hotel features public baths. Loved the rustic charm and the warm welcome from the staff. Location was incredible.

The lodge is modern, super comfy, and Akira along with the whole team were fantastic. Even though we visited at the end of the season and were the only guests, they made sure we had everything we needed. Every morning, they prepared breakfast just for us, and we absolutely looooved every dish. The location was perfect for exploring the area. Can’t wait to come back!

We soon realized that we came from sunny Singapore and the family chatted comfortably. The place is very clean and amenities well planned and detailed. It was snowing heavily and the house had more than adequate heaters to keep us warm and comfy. Photos shown and description are exactly what you will get.

Snow Palace Nozawa poskytuje pokoje v destinaci Nozawa Onsen. Jen 21 km odtud se nachází Lyžařský areál Ryuoo a Opičí park Džigokudani je 32 km daleko. Modern, clean facilities. Exceptionally helpful staff! Even though it's a bit of a walk to the main gondola, the staff provided us with a ride every morning. Coming back home for the day it's only a few minutes from the slopes. Would certainly stay here again.

This was such an unforgettable experience. We were supposed to stay for just one night but ended up staying 4! Okay, from the beginning. We had different accommodation in Hakuba, but we weren’t satisfied so we were looking for something else and found Dark Horse by chance. The moment we walked into the house, we were greeted with smiles and warmth. Andy, Rika, Momo and Hana create something truly special. We’ve stayed at hundreds of hotels and such, but this one will stay in our hearts for a long time. Everything is well thought out, you can see it’s taken care of down to the smallest detail, you can see it’s done properly and not just to be the cheapest. We felt so beautifully hosted. They also have an amazing sake collection to try, and the food is delicious too. Thank you again and we already miss it. I hope we’ll get the chance to meet again. PS. If you’re wondering whether to book a room at Dark Horse, don’t hesitate!​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Staying at the Guesthouse is a must if you go to Katsuyama and visit the dinosaur museum, especially if you have children, even older ones. The stay enhanced the experience. As other reviews have attested, I confirm the hospitality the owners provided us and went beyond our expectations. Many people will visit the museum as a day trip. However, I highly recommend staying overnight if you are a Japanese national with children or, like me, an international tourist.
