Built in 1913, the Kusatsu Hotel exhibits the architectural style of the Japanese Taisho Era. Value for money! Staffs are very much accommodating specially Jericho. Hotel is more than 100 years old but it doesn’t feel like one. So happy we booked this for our very first onsen/ryokan experience.

Boasting hot spring baths in a spectacular outdoor setting by Takaragawa River, Japanese-style hotel Takaragawa Onsen Osenkaku is a 10-minute drive from Hodaigi Ski Resort. Pure magic, totally recommend the place. They pick you up from train station, assure you have a nice stay, provide quality food and the staff is well prepared. I felt really safe as a guest. Will come back 100%

BUNA KUSATSU Onsen Inn offers a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 47 km of Jigokudani Monkey Park and 15 km of Mt. Kusatsu Shirane. The room was bright and clean, and the private onsen was amazing. There is a kitchen and a shared space where you can experience a traditional Japanese kotatsu. Everything was great except that the property is located on a hill, so you have to climb to reach nearby places. The road was very slippery on snowy days, and we almost slipped several times. I would not recommend this place for travelers with elderly people or young children.

Set in Minakami, 36 km from Gala Yuzawa Snow Resort, Tanigawa Valley Lodge & Coffee Roastery offers accommodation with free bikes, free private parking, a garden and a shared lounge. We had such a wonderful time at Tanigawa Valley Lodge & Coffee Roastery. Staying here felt more like visiting a friend than checking into a lodge. Craig and his family are genuinely lovely… warm, generous, and full of helpful local insights. From day one, Craig helped us plan everything: hiking routes, the best nearby restaurants, even the local swimming spot his family visits daily. He even pointed out interesting local wildlife, which added a special touch to our nature walks. The rooms were super comfortable, breakfast was a delight, and the coffee… well, it lives up to the “roastery” in the name. Truly some of the best we’ve had in Japan. We’re already talking about coming back in winter to experience the area’s skiing. Highly recommended.

Located in Kusatsu in the Gunma region, Oyado Yukizumi provides accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking, as well as access to a hot spring bath. Traditional style furnitures but indeed very new and clean! Super nice staff. Small and cozy public bath, not many tourist so some chance u get private bath 😆 Met some cats in the carpark behind.

Offering massage services and mountain view, Kusatsu Hotel Bekkan Wata no Yu (Adult Only) is situated in Kusatsu, 45 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park and 14 km from Mt. Kusatsu Shirane. This hotel made our trip to Kusatsu Onsen extra special and I am so glqd we chose this hotel. First of all, the owner is a very kind, bright, and nice person. She was always most helpful and kind (we would have made a big transport mistake without her help, she even called the bus company to help us find the best route). The rooms were modern Japanese, beautiful, spacious, and clean. There were comfortable yukatas to wear inside as well as ones to wear outside, which allowed us to enjoy touring Kusatsu in yukatas. On the day we arrived there was a delicious macha pudding waiting in the fridge! The amenities were excellent and everything was designed beautifully. The location is very near to everything you might want to see in Kusatsu Onsen while still being in a nice, peaceful spot. The main shopping streets, yubatake, a beautiful park full of hot springs, and so many other things are just a few minutes away. There is an onsen and a sauna at the hotel, the space is soothing, beautiful, and clean. Going to bathe there was a very relaxing way to end the day and really enjoy the onsen water Kusatsu is famous for. In these spaces too the amenities were excellent. We had an excellent experience and would certainly choose this hotel again. And thank you so much again to the very kind owner! :)

Offering river views, Minakamisansou is set in the Tanigawa Onsen district of Minakami, 36 km from Gala Yuzawa Snow Resort and 39 km from Naeba Ski Resort. Super good stay. Very attentive personel and extremly friendly. Very good japanese food. Good communicatipn and flexibility

Hanaingen is an adult only accommodation situated in Kusatsu, just a 2-minute walk from Yubatake, or the hot water field in Kusatsu Onsen. Super friendly staff and delicious breakfast! I don't know if that is the case for everyone, but I got a different breakfast on the 2 mornings I was there. It's also super close to all the popular locations and the bus station.
