The best part of the stay was the location and the hospitality offered by Seji. If you're a beach person, you'd love the location. You can open the door to land yourself on the beach. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The food being served is also quite good. You can walk along the coast to reach the Varkala cliff as well. Definitely heading back there if I ever revisit Varkala.

Down a quiet street, in the quieter South cliff side (most tourist shops/restaurants are in the North cliffs) right across from a hotel, you can either take stairs down the cliff to Elixir Beach or walk downhill about 10 mins to get to main Varkala Beach. Apartments are brand new with secured parking, great water pressure, and hot water.

The Gateway Varkala was a very nice place to stay. Everything in the hotel, from the staff, service, and location was top notch. The grounds are large and kept impeccable with a nice swimming pool. The breakfast was very varied and enjoyable, and the staff at breakfast were very accommodating with any requests. My wife scheduled a massage in the spa, and she said it was amazing.
