About Anaheim

Including tips for the best time to visit Anaheim

Located just outside Los Angeles, Anaheim is a city famous for its shopping, Orange County landscapes and most importantly, Disneyland.

Anaheim’s biggest attraction is by far Disneyland Resort, comprising both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Beloved cartoon characters come to life here at one of America’s most cherisehd theme parks. A magical place that has the hearts of children and adults worldwide, Disneyland offers unforgettable fun for visitors of all ages.

Shopper's will find much to love about Anaheim. Check out Center Street Promenade, a hip district filled with boutique stores, local eateries and luxurious lofts. It’s the perfect place for a little retail therapy, with plenty of jewellery, high-end fashion and chic lifestyle stores. Afterwards, be sure to check out one of the local Californian craft beer joints for a refreshing drop.

Treated by the sunny California climate, there are plenty of things to do outside in Anaheim. Featuring winding lanes that loop around four lakes, Yorba Regional Park is perfect for cyclists. Elsewhere, hikers will love the sweeping views of the scenic woodland at the Oak Canyon Nature Center.

Anaheim is always a great visit!

September 11, 2024

Anaheim is always a great visit! Like most people, I mainly travel here for Disneyland, however, there are plenty of other things to do! Great shopping centers/malls, restaurants and bars, etc. It's not super far from the beach, and who wouldn't want to see the ocean?? If I'm going to spend a full day on the sand, I don't mind packing up and making the commute! I recommend visiting "Camelot Golfland" for some outdoor mini golf (wear sunscreen) and arcade games inside, and there is "Brewery X" nearby for local beer and food trucks - the pizza and garlic knots were killer!

As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing about Anaheim that interests me other than Disney. It's otherwise a standard strip-mall sprawl, except for about a mile on Harbor Blvd. and Katella Ave. that's been prettified with palm trees and lighted decorations. Typical of SoCal, the automobile rules the roost outside the Disney Resort (and even celebrated in the California Adventures park), as both Harbor and Katella are major thoroughfares with four busy lanes each direction. At the crosswalks, there's six lanes--four straight, one left and one right-turn lane. Crossing the street is like walking the length of a football field. I can't say much for whatever is left of old (pre-1955) Anaheim, but that part of the city in a two mile radius of the "magic kingdom" is nothing but a life-support system for Disneyland and its visitors.

I have now visited Anaheim 4 times, mainly to attend D23 and Disneyland. The surrounding area has a lot to offer in relation to dining out and shopping. LA is about an hour away with an Uber and I have visited The Walt Disney Studios in Burbank and Universal Hollywood Studios.

Anaheim seems to have a good mix of national and small chain shop and eateries in the area. We never rent a car when we visit but most places are in walking distance or you can easily utilize the shuttle service of the area or ride shares to get where you need to go.

Extremely expensive but very nice.

Extremely expensive but very nice. The fact that I spent 8000 on a family trip and could barely get on rides or get pics with characters is insane. The only way to have an amazing experience is to spend even more money to get flash passes and specialized itinerary and that shouldnt be the case. The line for the flash pass was often longer than the main line meaning those with limited budgets have a very generic experience.

I have usually gone just to go to Disneyland, but it's within driving distance of Crystal Cove State Park and the Japanese Gardens in Long Beach which I've always wanted to see. Anaheim is actually a good jumping off point for a number of places to check out.
