Fairfax District
6.9 miles from city centre
Fairfax welcomes art monsters and indie-geeks. The literati should shop at Family: a bookstore curated to perfection with paperbacks and zines. Stop by for epic readings by well-known authors. Spend a morning munching on doughnuts, fresh berries and handmade nut-butters from the Farmer’s Market, or sample your way through the stalls.

Historic District
0.8 miles from city centre
The heart of the “City of Angels”. This area thrives on young, go-getting and progressive folks that seem to survive on champagne and ambition rather than sleep. Nightclubs never stop, high-end lounges sell higher-priced cocktails, and theatres produce shows to rival the country’s best. This district is a buzz that keeps on buzzing.

Hollywood
6.3 miles from city centre
Oh, Hollywood: icon of the silver screen and wayward Western dreams. Oscar-winners, critical darlings and aspiring actors walk (or get chauffeured) around these parts. Hike up the hillside trails to the iconic sign or take in a comedy show at Upright Citizen’s Brigade. Art houses, trendy cafés, and city bus tours proliferate in this area.

Beverly Hills
8.7 miles from city centre
For lifestyles of the rich and famous, look no further than this celebrity village. Superstar sightings, mega-mansions, and über-chic attitudes colour these hills. Linger long enough on Rodeo Drive to smell the coffee, plastic surgery lotion, and pricey perfume. Then stop by an ATM and buy a cupcake straight from the machine (yes, it’s possible).

Nicknamed the ‘City of Angels’, Los Angeles is the place where many go to make their dreams come true. The home of Hollywood and Beverly Hills, ‘LA’ as it’s affectionately known is certainly glamorous, but there’s so much more to explore in this cutting-edge metropolis. From hiking up rugged mountains to gorging yourself silly in the country’s largest Koreatown, you’ll be hard pressed to find yourself running out of things to do here.
Near Los Angeles’ iconic Hollywood sign lie the famous studios of Universal, Warner Brothers and Paramount Pictures, who run behind-the-scenes tours for film and television fans alike. You’ll be able to see if your hands and feet match your favourite celebrities outside the TCL Chinese Theatre, and you can enjoy tours of Hollywood homes from the Walk of Fame. For a dose of culture, head to the Natural History Museum or California Science Centre; theme park fans can get their fix at Disneyland or Universal Studios.
The obvious choice to shop here would be Rodeo Drive's stores, but there are more places to shop ‘til you drop in Los Angeles. For swanky boutiques, head to The Grove in West Hollywood or Palisades Village, and for vintage clothing, eclectic antiques and unique artworks, make your way to the Melrose Trading Post Flea Market.
Outside the centre of Los Angeles, you can easily get away from the crowds. Relax on golden beaches, hike up through scenic Runyon Canyon Park or soak up panoramic views from Griffith Park.

lots of homeless on the streets, crazy people. Dirty city! Everything is so expansive based on the city structure. Even uber you have to pay extra fees that there is no place in the world that does that but California!

7 August 2023
Los Angeles lacks a convenient public transit system that makes it inferior to places like New York, Seattle, Portland, and Chicago. It's a relatively unglamorous city with little personality beyond its limited history, which can be explored via a walking tour. But it is a hub to other places like Hollywood, Santa Monica, Long Beach, Venice, and north Orange County. Lesser known gems in Los Angeles include Angel's Flight, the strawberry donut from Donut Man, and Bob Baker Marionette Theater, plus comedy outlets like The Groundlings. Get tickets for the Broad Museum, which is likely the most crowd-pleasing activity and it's free! Be sure to check all reviews of any property you stay.
The price was reasonable.
6 August 2023
The price was reasonable. Hotels can get very expensive in LA. The location was a good base. We used Uber once we arrived and it was easy to get around to all the different areas. Rooftop deck was really nice. It was a sunny day and we sat and had lunch and drinks with a view of the Hollywood Sign. Downstairs restaraunt had breakfast and dinner and was really good food. Front desk Allie was awazing. Great service.,

It was a good experience because I reconnected with a close friend after 16 years. Great Mexican restaurant El Torito, Marina Condado del Ray, Santa Monica was great too. Moving around is easy, Uber, lift, bus train.
LA is a massively geographically spread out city.
4 August 2023
LA is a massively geographically spread out city. The overall impression is loads of single small house blocks with not many parks of green spaces inside, compensated for by the surrounds. Beaches at Santa Monica were really nice, with decent surf when we were there. Plenty of interesting museums galleries. The public transport is really excellent and very affordable make it easy to get around, a credit to the city. Buses seem to go everywhere and appear every few minutes.
