Sandwiched between the Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, Santa Barbara is a popular holiday destination in the United States. You’ll find miles of beaches, marine terraces, Spanish-style homes and a vibrant art scene, all rolled into one, as you travel to this sun-drenched city.
The ocean breeze in Santa Barbara serenades beachgoers while the waves lend themselves to water sports enthusiasts. The Butterfly Beach in the Montecito area is a local favourite. Here, you can sunbathe and swim or try high-octane activities like surfing, kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding. To spot some dolphins and whales while you stroll along the shore, head to Arroyo Burro Beach. If you’re looking for some quiet time amid sea cliffs, walk down a bougainvillea-lined route and a stairway leading to Mesa Lane Beach.
As you wander around the streets of this Californian city, you’ll come across Spanish-style landmarks, such as the Santa Barbara County Courthouse – a massive whitewashed building with red tile roofs. The grounds and gardens of Mission Santa Barbara is another notable structure worth exploring, and so is the historic Amtrak Station Santa Barbara.
A variety of cultural and historical experiences await at Santa Barbara. A visit to the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara will take you through the creative artworks and design installations. You can learn about the region’s geological and ecological diversity through state-of-the-art exhibits at Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History.

Santa Barbara is always great. The beaches, restaurants, wine tasting, Amtrak destination, zoos, museums, boardwalk along the beach. It's an awesome stop if you're on a road trip, or for a destination in itself.
One of the most beautiful stops on our California trip. Santa Barbara is the California you picture in your head, stunning beaches, palm trees swaying, sunny weather and super friendly people. With only a few days there, we didn't venture too far but if you love you're food and wine you are in for a treat! Particular highlights include J Wilkes and Grassini for wine tasting and The Lark, Bibi Ji and Jeannines for food.
Santa Barbara is perfect for its weather, proximity to the best eateries, and the easy to find (and mostly free!) parking around the city. My favorite spots we visited were the Santa Barbara Public Market, La Arcada for the turtle fountain and delicious cafes in the area (I recommend Hook & Press donuts & coffee!), and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. Getting around is very easy with so many eateries and fun activities within a 10 min drive of each other. We came for the Santa Barbara Bowl, but stayed for the delicious food, beautiful weather, and scenery of Santa Barbara!
Santa Barbara is beautiful, but that hotel was quite bad. For $247, plus tax to $274, it was overprixed for the condition of the facility. There were piles of stuff, such as old stove, furniture, mattresses in the parking lot and in the walkways. The floors of the walkways were filthy with peeling, chipped paint. The room itself was clean, with clean sheets, but they didn't have a mattress pad on the bed so the mattress will soon be stained. There were 3 regular pillows on the king bed. I asked for another pillow and got it.
There just so many things to do, from surfing, sunning, walking, biking, hiking, shopping, people watching, and on and on. I did not even visit the various museums which I plan on doing next time. Food options are fantastic, too many good places to mention. As a final note the weather was absolutely perfect, 75 degrees and sunny.
It was just a couple of days there before going further down the coast. It was absolutely beautiful. It may sound hyperbolic but the people at the hotel were stupendous. After a long couple of years, it was nice to in the watch the waves roll in as the sun set.
