They had a shuttle bus every 30 minutes to go to the ski slope and back, which is just down the road. They are also a short walk from a small shrine, which was great for new year in the snow!”

“The old couple (Kao and Mei Ling) running the hotel were the most gracious. When we checked in the well preserved 40 years hotel, Mei Ling offered us some heat packs (very useful), use of their snow boots, recommended some good local food and drove us to/from the nearby ski resort. We tried 2 of the recommended local restaurantsand they were good and decently priced. At one of the restaurants, there was a 70+ lady manning the restaurant by herself. We randomly ordered 8 dishes and it was great. We had fried fish, a hot pot of meat and vegies, boiled edamame (x2),fried ramen (x2),boiled pig innards and fried rice cutlets. And all enjoyed on a Japanese table sitting on the tatami with a nearby heater. Lovely warm meal on a cold evening! And to top it all, we had a hearty breakfast with hot buns, potato salad, avocado, sausages, scramble eggs and coffee. By the way, the hotel has a nice hot bath.”

The owner was kind enough to drive us to further snow fields to try different places and did not charge us extra. The rooms are standard but very clean and well maintained.
