“The hotel is lovely, with spacious rooms, a very nice patio and a swimming pool that you can jump into after a long day exploring the neighbourhoods of Merida. The breakfast offered at the hotel is just delicious. The owners of the hotel arranged a couple very interesting excursions for us and also gave us a lot of tips about cool places to visit in the town. In total, we spent a few great and relaxing days there and will surely choose the same hotel next time we travel to Merida (which will hopefully be soon!).”

Our flight out of Merida was in the evening and they have allowed us to check out on our last day at 6pm (regular check out time is 12pm) with no extra charge. The Hotel is nothing fancy but it is clean, friendly, affordable, close to everything and all together a lovely place to stay. Also, since you cannot drink the regular tap water, they have a water cooler next to registration so you can fill up your own water bottle and you don't have to keep buying water and save up that money.”

We have stayed in a big and clean ensuite double room with fan. The mattress was comfortable and we have felt like at home. There is a little common kitchen and a little pool where you can refresh during the hottest hours of the day and this is a plus! You can also rent bicycles here. “Luz en Yucatan deserves all the praise it gets. It's a fantastic hotel in every respect. The hotel is a colonial gem, in the perfect location. It has a lovely pool area which gets a lot of sun but always has shaded parts. All the managers are lovely. Incredibly polite and helpful. They provide a leaflet which basically deals with all the kind of things they get asked regularly. Very handy. There was a problem with the aircon in my room. It was being repaired when I arrived, but it didn't really work on my first night so the room was ridiculously hot. These things happen. They moved me to a different room the following morning. Bit of a pain but not the end of the world. The new room was huge - three beds and a kitchen, so far too big for one person. But, along with a few beers in the fridge, a nice gesture. There was drinking water, a coffee machine and a fridge in both rooms I had. Wifi was great. Highly recommended.”

“Really warm welcome from Stuart and Violet who gave me lots of recommendations of things to do and the best places to eat in Merida. They also arranged for a driver/guide for the day who took me to see all the best sights in Yucatan. My room, and and the rest of the place, was beautifully decorated and very comfortable, I slept really well! Even though I am a fussy eater, Stuart and Violet always made sure I had plenty to eat for breakfast and it was all absolutely delicious.
