Score from 5 reviews Exceptional
All of the above.
The fact that the deodorizer ran whenever the the bathroom light was turned on. I think it should have an alternate switch.
Bigger tv with more of a selection of channels
Friendly staff, clean room, wireless available.
No coffee in the room, or coffee machine to make it.
the young staff were fantastic,
rates really bounced around,
The rooms were clean, the beds and bedding were super comfy, the showers were excellent and the paintings in the hallway were a nice touch.
Location, fridge in room
No pool or hotub, could have been better breakfast option
Tastefully decorated, simple but had everything that was needed.
The hotel was clean and staff friendly. The location was excellent for walking. The value for what we got was good. I would stay there again.
The continental breakfast could have been a little better.
The rooms are clean and well-maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. The beds are very comfortable. There isn't a lot of noise from other suites. We could open the window and had a great view over the lake (I think ours was only one of two rooms that do have a view, though.) Price is right!
Though the beds were comfortable, the pillows were not (glad I brought my own.) Though the view was great, our room also overlooked an alley which seemed to be a thoroughfare on Friday night for pub crawlers! Breakfast was a little too basic for us, so we chose to eat breakfast out. TV was tiny, but this is a small complaint as we were not in our room very much.
Donna and Tom, front desk staff are amazingly helpful. Both are personable and suggested routes, things to see to us. Each suggested restaurants (try Sage for dinner and the Kootenay Lake Bakery for breakfast...yum). Fabulous! Room was spotless, quiet, comfortably appointed and exactly as it appeared on the internet site through which we found and booked the room.
Didn't know there was no elevator.
At first we thought parking would be an issue but when we were offered the parking pass for a lot a block or two down, that erased that issue. Staff were very helpful with providing information and answering all our questions .... very friendly!
Ease of check in. Friendly staff who helped find various locations we wanted to see. We needed extra towels and missed breakfast but all was accomodated once we asked for what we needed. If you're looking for a big breakfast the muffin and fruit may not be enough ( try the Yellow Deli...delicious ! and open 24 hours during the week ).Room was simple and small but we only needed a place to sleep and shower. Our plan while in Nelson was to explore the great outdoors not hang out in our hotel room. The downtown location made it easy to access all the shops and restaurants in the evening. Overall, we were very happy.
It was a little off putting that there was a massive stain in front of our room on the carpet and on the door. The stairs were steep and could be an issue for some people. The pay parking out front could also be an issue. Apparently there are parking passes but you have to ask. If you don't leave by 9:00am, remember to go put some change in the meter ( it's only $ .25 each 15 minutes ).
We liked the location; within walking distance of all downtown shops and restaurants. Our room was quiet. The reception staff was accommodating and courteous. There was a secure lock-up area for our bikes.
When we checked in, the bed looked as though it had been slept in. When we pulled back the top sheet, there were old stains on the bedding. The front desk staff provided a change for us. The bedding is old and needs to be replaced. We were charged $25 for losing the key fob. An updated card locking system would eliminate the need to charge guests. " breakfast" consisted of a soggy muffin wrapped in plastic, coffee and juice, fruit.
Very good price and it is close to the down town area.
Sometimes the parking is less than desirable as you have to park on the street.
Good location in heart of Nelson. Room quiet and comfortable. Staff friendly.
Very confining within four cement walls and not even a decent window. Good for sleeping but not for relaxing at any other times of day.
It was close to everything.Easy walk to shopping and restaraunts. Good breakfast.Liked that there was a fridge.
Only one chair in king size room and could have used a little table.
The most important thing to me was cleanliness, nice beds and good bedding and this place scored well on all that. I loved the location. Shopping is right there and great restaurants too. It's not fancy but you can't beat the price!
I didn't like that there was no elevator because my husband was on crutches.
Very close to various restaurants, bars and shops
Who ever came up with the idea that a muffin and an apple is a continental breakfast has clearly never been on the continent! Bathtub was disgusting!
right in downtown nelson so everything was very close and easy to get to staff was very helpful with anything we needed or asked about
we had to come back home too soon
the bed was very comfortable room was clean
no elevator no fridge our window looked out at a wall and 2 other airconditioner
Location Air con
Beds not properly made. No coffee making facilities in room.
Room was comfortable and quiet.
Air conditioning was marginal. Wi-Fi was slow and intermittent.
It is central, quiet and with friendly and obliging staff, nice clean rooms with no danger of fire. i slept like a log.
Our view was of three short brick walls. But who cares - i came to see the rest of Nelson and Balfour
