Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

To be honest Shpella guesthouse is a perfect place to spend few days with you family. I enjoyed very much sitting in the garden with my children and eating breakfast and lunch every day, I spent one week there, but I would have really loved to stay longer, my children didn't want to leave. The owner is so helpful and makes you feel like you are at home. I will definitely go back to this place, thank you Gjon

CanadaPerfect location, nice old guesthouse where we felt very welcome. Rooms are small but clean, and with the landscape you won't want to stay in your room anyways! We had our dinner there and everything was very good.

United KingdomWe went to bed early but some other guests arrived very late, which caused some minimal noise.
The staff were very professional and helped us with everything we needed. The room was comfortable. The property had superb views and the food was some of the best we had in Albania! Overall an excellent experience - highly recommended.

Shpella Guesthouse was the perfect stay in Theth. Pretty close to the minimarket (20 min walk) but outside the very touristy parts of Theth. The views are amazing and the garden is perfect to enjoy those views with a big beer after the Valbone-Theth hike. Great staff, very welcoming (the shot of Raki!) and overall a great place to enjoy the beauty of Theth. Also about a 45 min hike to the Waterfall!

AustraliaBathroom very small, but to be expected in guest houses. It is not very sound proof with floors and walls hearing all
Great vibe and lovely outdoor spaces with views of all the mountains. At night, they have a bonfire, which adds to community feeling. The staff were kind and extremely welcoming after the big hike. The restaurant does a great meal and breakfast was good

AustraliaI booked a double bed room but was put in a three bed room, though had to myself. Was too unwell to talk them about it.
I became very ill from a stomach bug, the wonderful female staff checked on me and ensured I was OK. Made me feel very taken care of when travelling alone. Nice view of surroundings and great vibe

SpainThe only downside I would mention it's that the bathroom is a little small and there's no separation between the shower and toilet so it gets a bit messy.
The house is very cute and beautiful. The staff is TOP-NOTCH, so nice and helpful all the time. They're truly one of the things that makes this place so special. The location is great as it's the start of many trails and the way there is okay, it's mostly paved. They have a big parking for cars and vans. The food was amazing and the rooms were really comfy.

ThailandI booked a bed in a mixed dorm and was quite skeptical given some of the negative reviews left by other guests, but was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the bed was. The bathroom was small but it was totally fine. There was hot water and basic toiletries were provided. Breakfast was good as well. The guesthouse is located near the church, next to a beautiful meadow.

United KingdomIt’s a gorgeous home with a backdrop of beautiful Theth mountains. All the staff are friendly- breakfast prepared with lots of the ingredients grown in Theth. The room is ‘basic’ but for hiking it has everything you need. Would stay here next time 100%

PortugalBathroom wasn't great.
A good place to stay. The room was decent, safe for the winter bed sheets and no a/c or fan. The bathroom wasn't great. But they compensate with the peaceful and beautiful landscape and amazing food at the restaurant.

SwedenBecause you will love it here! The last house in the village, surrounded by mountains and gorgeous nature. The owners John and his wife really makes everyone feel so welcomed and they really walk the extra mile to help you make your stay the best. I had forgot a sweater and was a bit cold in the evening, and got to borrow a knitted sweater during my 2 nights there. Wish I would have booked 3 nights! Delicious food (some of the best I ate in Albania) kind staff who speaks English, comfy beds and a really good breakfast! A cozy bonfire in the evening where you can enjoy some good draft beer. Gorgeous hikes, cold water to swim in and drink, fresh air and cool guests. What more can one ask for really? Already looking forward to my next visit!

AlbaniaUnfortunately it was too hot to stay inside the room for a long time. The temperature was better during the night when we went to sleep and we left the windows open. There was no window in the bathroom.
We really enjoyed our meals and taking a rest in the idyllic courtyard, surrounded by the mountains, the fresh air, the cool water and just a little bit of romantic music in the background. The room we stayed in was small, with a basic bathroom and a comfy bed. You get clean towels and sheets, but you have to leave your shoes out of the door to enter the common areas (which is part of the loca traditions). The staff was great, helpful and they all speak great English.

IrelandGorgeous little family run guesthouse right at the start of the trail for the blue eye and waterfall hikes in Theth. Loads of areas to sit outside in the shade and relax. Food was good and lovely atmosphere. Packed lunch available too. We were unfortunate and got food poisoning from another restaurant but the kitchen cooks at shpella were super accommodating and made us some plain food!!
