How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Not enough toilet paper, there was 1/8 roll left on holder and a spare one. Hated having to squeeze the soap out of its dispenser after just using the toilet, other people would be doing the same- definitely NOT hygienic.
It has been updated inside the rooms.

The car parking space is very small. I scratched my car when reversing. The kitchen and bathroom windows are hard to lock. One towel has blonde hair and the second towel has red color on it
There is a separate small kitchen and good size bathroom. The bedroom is big. Motel is very close to town center

I found the pillows too firm for my liking. There were four pillows in the room so I suggest having a couple of different types.
Location was awesome. Kitchenette with plates, bowls etc. gave flexibility in terms of not eating out for all meals!

Really nice room, had a full mini kitchen which was wonderful, the staff were super accomodating in letting us swap rooms so our motorbikes got a “better” parking space

I think more milk and sugar would be a good idea. A small long life carton of milk rather than the little capsule which are difficult to open and are not good for the environment.
The motel is very close to the centre of town and beach. The rooms were very clean and the separate kitchenette was perfect. I liked the window furnishings and the ability to be able to open the window.

No people contact however service went smoothly
Could walk everywhere. Room looked freshly painted . Bathroom and kitchen very clean and seating in room was ideal for my husband.

Disappointed with the towels which were shredding. The TV screen was so tiny that we didn't even put it on.
The location was great. Just so close to everything. Good size room and the kitchenette was very convenient. Car parking was clearly defined although a bit tight for a 4WD vehicle. High ceilings made the room feel more spacious than it was but still very comfortable.

Very dated bedroom space - side-boards need painting (currently a faded beige). And bedding needing an upgrade (also faded and grey / beige).
Spacious, comfortable. Nice large, modern bathroom. Tea and coffee and milk supplied. Easy parking. I would stay again.

can't find anything to complain about!
since our group was arriving at the property late and we left to explore the otways very early on both mornings that we were there, we were able to arrange for a late check in without meeting the staff all throughout the stay. it was fuss-free and painless. the property is also new and everything was spick and span, parking was more than adequate per room and it is located just a stone's throw away from the tourist information centre, a petrol kiosk and tons of eateries.

Outside light not on late at night.
The location was great. Walking distance to the main town. Hotel staff were great. Tourist area so you are expected to pay a little extra in Apollo Bay.

This motel has everything you need. It is not luxury but the room is comfortable, clean and spacious. It has a separate little kitchen and good sized bathroom and is well located on the coast road with plenty of amenities near by.

Neighbours noisy past 10pm (drinking, loud talking, door slamming). Also smoked in adjoining parking space so front area of our unit stunk.
Great location directly across from beach and next to commercial area with restaurants, cafes, shops.
