The buildings are very old and do need a spruce up. I had to walk a fair distance to my room which I didn't expect. Food was ok.

The amazing location and the natural beauty of the caves.

Bathroom freezing but shower nice and hot.

Breakfast was fine, buffet served by staff (mostly). Pastries delicious. No espresso coffee. Room was adequate although the cranking of radiators coming on early in the morning woke us - they ar controlled outside the room not by individual rooms. Shower like a big waterfall (no water limiters her). Dinner was lovely in the dining room although service haphazard.

There was nothing that stood out as an issue and felt that no more could be done to best accommodate road closures and flood damage. All staff were very friendly and eager to assist.

Food and service in the restaurant was excellent as well as the transport from the car park to hotel.

I requested to book the Cave House accommodations. The booking.com books the mountain lodge instead. I phoned twice to confirm that I wanted to stay in Cave house but still did not make it

    Location , breakfast is excellent

The only thing was the card reader on our door played up and wouldn’t read the cards to let us in the room on the last day but it was no big problem

    Everything was great and excellent

It would help the long-term conservation prospects of the precinct if the repairs to the road from Katoomba could be prioritised. It appears as though that road won't be repaired until 2023, which is a shame.

Jenolan Caves House is a quirky and historical heritage building. The reduced access due to the effects of recent floods and bushfires, plus the damage done by these recent freak weather events, and the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, means that staff and maintenance are, as of June2021, are at skeleton levels. If you focus on the character, personality, and history of the hotel and the majesty of the caves themselves, you can forgive the cobwebs, paint chips, and a very thinly stretched restaurant staff, and thoroughly enjoy Jenolan Caves House for what is and will be when it gets some TLC, and appreciate the hard work of the dedicated and hard-working staff who are keeping the place alive. It was a joy to return after more than thirty years, and have as good a time as I did when I was a child.
