Location is good if you want to stay near the castle, but there is little choice for restaurants/shops, etc,so if you want to hang out with people around you,a more central place will be better. And the hostel is not easy to find.

Comfortable, nice room with home feeling. Good heating in cold weather, clean and quiet. Running, drinkable water in the garden, from a well or spring.

We spent 2 nights in Ilgar’s guesthouse. Our stay was agreeable: Room was big with private bathroom and the guesthouse was 5 minutes walking from the city centre of old Sheki. Ilgar prepared breakfast with homemade gem and fresh products. I recommend it ! 😊

The bathroom could have been better. It was a little tiny and had a moist smell of kinds.

It's a calm old home in a location slightly off the main roads. It is still very close to the main Karavan Saray. The best part about this property is the host himself. He is the most friendly and kind person I found in AZ. He is genuine, human, friendly and goes extra mile to help his guests.

Ilgar's guesthouse was the perfect place to stay in Sheki. It's great value for money and Ilgar and his family are so kind. I stayed in the female dorm and it was very comfortable. A great place to chill out and the breakfast is really good too!

I found Ilgar’s hostel in Lonley planet. I was a little weary getting from Sheki to Tbilisi would prove complicated so I wanted to make a reservation with someone I believed could help me out. Ilgar did not disappoint. Thanks to him I could relax and I made it to Tbilisi with absolutely zero issues. He even texted me after I left to make sure everything was ok. I couldn’t be happier. Also both Ilgar and his wife really are really sweet and Ilgar’s English is the best I heard any Azeri speak during my time in Azerbaijan. For the money the single bedroom where I stayed is really good value. Especially since you stay close to both restaurant Gagarin (which has a formidable view, really quite something) and Karvansaray. Breakfast was great too. Should I return to Sheki I will return to Ilgar’s. Highly recommended!

Bring earplugs as there is not much soundproofing. Bring an eye cover as well because the light for the outdoor toilets is left on all night and shines into the room. Wifi signal weak but usable in the room.

Lovely guesthouse located on a quiet lane in the old city. Spacious and clean room. Hot shower with good water pressure. Attentive and helpful owner Ilgar who speaks great English and is able to give advice on bus timetables and how to access Kis.

Ilgar is a very nice host, super attentive and always super helpful with every single request we made. We spent 2 beautiful days in his house and it was just perfect. The room was spacious and clean with clean bathroom and hot water (not so common in Azerbaijan :)) The house has a very nice garden! I love it. Ilgar can give you help with all the information you need to stroll around the city, for hiking and the best food in town. Breaksfast is super good as well! I really recommend to stay here!

The property is difficult to find as every street looks exactly the same. But that's no reason to avoid coming to Ilgar's!!

Ilgar is a great host! Very enjoyable! And the room is really really big and clean with comfortable beds. The house is right in the old town where everything is a few minutes on foot.

The only thing I'd mention is the quality of the roads that take you to the hostel. Don't make my mistake, and park a little closer to the main road. Don't go right up to the door of the hostel, as you'll easily end up in a tight spot.

Ilgar is immensely kind and knowledgeable, and truly wants everything for his guests to be OK. What a wonderful host. The hostel is quiet and comfortable. Ilgar will, if you want, give you lots of interesting information about Sheki and the life there, as well as recommendations for what to do.

Ilgar and his family were really helpful and kind hosts..helped us with making arrangements for local tours, taxi and took us to bus station for our onward journey to Ganja. location was great, near to all attractions, and if you wish to visit further in the city, taxis were readily available. Ilgar speaks English which makes things easier.

Loved our stay at Ilgar’s, location was excellent, very close to all the most famous sights of Sheki and in a charming neighbourhood. Room was perfect, large, comfortable and had everything we needed. The outdoor courtyard was great for relaxing in. Had dinner there which was excellent. Best thing staying there was meeting Ilgar, as he was so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, really enjoyed our time chatting with him. would highly recommend. Thanks for everything Ilgar!

The location is very close to the old city with most of the attractions & usually there were buses & taxis but still little far from city center & bus station as I needed to go very early morning & there was no taxis & I had to walk for 30mins to bus station that's why I give 9 not 10.

I stayed 1 night with Ilgar. He is a great man who is very respectful, knowledgeable & hospitable. He gave me a private room with a private toilet that were very clean. Wifi was very fast. We had an interesting deep conversation & he helped me to know the timings of transportation. Also he accepted my late check out.

Ilgar's Hostel is a lovely place to stay. We were here for 4 nights and enjoyed a large, comfortable room, a delicious breakfast, and most of all the pleasure of meeting and spending time with Ilgar and his wife. They are an absolutely wonderful couple, and we appreciate all the conversations and local recommendations they provided. If you are someone who travels to enjoy local experiences more than the sight-seeing, you're likely someone who will appreciate the opportunity to live in a local household environment. At Illgar's Hostel we were not only able to enjoy our large, private room, but also our time visiting with them in their kitchen for tea and conversations. We truly felt at home so very far from home.
