How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

According to the reviews, I walked to the other site just for check in, which turned out to be unnecessary as the key was online? key. Would have been better with a clear notice ahead as it's hard to carry luggage all by yourself on rocky road of brussels.
Common room was nice. Right next to Grand palace, perfect location. Key was online which is nice but also not comfy to travelers who just arrived and might be having issue with wifi connection.

There is no reception, to open the door you need wifi. Sometimes, wifi is slow so you end up waiting outside or for the door to open.

Check-in process was a bit confusing. You don't have to go to the other location to check-in anymore, it's all completely online. And you need your smartphone with you at all times. Also, no assigned beds.. so if you're particular about upper/lower bunks, try to check-in as soon as possible and "reserve" your spot by making the bed and leaving some clothes on the bed itself. And don't forget to drop off the sheets/towels in the laundry baskets on your way out!

The digital keys did not work when not connected to the wifi plus there is no reception so had to figure out how to deal with it myself

It was confusing that I needed to go somewhere else to get my card key, around 15 minuets from the hostel by foot. It should have been stated in the website that I need to get my card key from another location first.
I liked the location since it was in the central and the kitchen had the things I needed.

Noise from the streets - fixed with ear plugs from the free dispenser at ground floor Bit of mold in the shower since it doesnt get any air, otherwise very clean

Check in place is way to far, especially if you are coming late at night, it was quite scary to walk all the way from one hostel to another. Codes for keys are not functioning properly, I spent over 20min to unlock the box. For additional night price was way to higher on their reception then on booking. No luggage deposit

It could've been easier and less confusing for the client if they had a receptionist or at least responsible staff in the hotel.
Everything was clean, and far from outdated. The shared bathroom in the room was also pretty nice and clean. There was some tea and coffee that was up for grabs in the kitchen alongside a large fridge to store food and some kitchen utensils. The staff at the reception at their bigger hotel was a lovely person.

Location near Grote Markt and Brussel-Centraal. Clean dormitory. Quiet. All basic needs are available. Wi-Fi, shower.

There's no reception in the hostel, the reception is on another building and you reach it by pubic transportation. I couldn't lock my locker with the padlock I own because it was too small and I couldn't get one in the hostel since there's no reception, I didn't want to go back to the main building just for that
Location was great, rooms were well equipped and comfortable. Shower and toilette are inside the room.

It gets crowded in a room with 6 people. Unfortunately, we also got a room that had a much smaller bathroom area (only single sink and mirror, apparently in some other rooms there are bigger bathrooms). Main issues really came with bathroom - the shower smelled a bit funny like old water, the shower is really inconvenient to use because you have to keep pressing the button for water. And the lights for toilet and shower had sensors in the part with sink, so sometimes while showering, you’d be left in dark. Would have been cool to have a mirror somewhere in the room
The location is really great - you live less than a minute walk away from the Grand Place, if you’re interested in the night life, many bars are nearby as well, supermarket was like 3 minutes away, cafes and so on. Also really close to Brussels Centraal train station. The kitchen was nice and cosy. The only encounter with staff we mainly had was with reception staff, they were super friendly and nice.
