Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNobody at reception, the phone number that is posted on the door to call in case the door is closed doesn't work. The room was dirty and dusty. On top of it all we were woken up in the middle of the night by the noises coning from next door, the police busted, what it seemed, a drug den. There was banging and shouting all night.

United KingdomWhen I went out in the morning to look around the town I had trouble getting back in at the locked door. They should give guests a key to the outside door for when the restaurant is closed.
Central location on Visé and my meal in the evening was really good. Facilities a bit old but all functional.

United KingdomThe hotel room was very dark and the shower was over the bath but did not have a hook for the head, so you had to hold it to shower in your had to wash (not very convenient).
This was a spur of the moment booking as we had not booked for the night prior to arriving. There was no view as we were at the back of the hotel. However the bed was comfortable and linen and towels were clean. There was a restaurant attached to the hotel.

BelgiumThe personnel didn't speak English so communicating with them was a bit difficult. I don't have any other complaints.
It was a nice stay at Hotel De La Gare. A top location next to the water! Small and cozy, ideal for a short stay. I didn't visit the town but it looked really nice.

United KingdomThe ‘patron’ was unprepared to allow me to bring my touring bicycle into the property until I begged. There was enough space as the hotel occupation was low and there were many solutions. Why be so hostile? It just was so unnecessary. The toilet seat was not attached to the pan! It was leaning on the wall. The plastic fixing bracket was broken! The weather was hot and it was too noisy to sleep with the window open. In front of the hotel was a train line and a motorway. There was an air conditioning unit but no remote control to operate it! Money saving? At breakfast the milk was sour. I was unable to finish my cereals.
A good location close to main routes, the Meuse and restaurants and bars.

NetherlandsNot friendly, Breakfast was terrible, and the beds where way to hard! This hotel owner(s) have NO PASSION for wat they do, NO HOSPITALITY, I was shocked! we did not eat the old breakfast ,of course, and after a lot of calls to voicemail I spoke to the cleaning lady, she called the owner and I requested a refund.
THIS WAS TERRIBLE! they only spoke French. The whole weekend there was no one at the reception. the rooms were all black, the beds were so hard that no one of us slept well. Omg the breakfast was TERRIBLE. We paid in advance and came to the breakfast "cellar" no windows, at 9 O'clock. There where exactly 3 chocolate breads, burned and cold. there was NO normal bread, the Jus d'orange was finished. there was only water and some dirty looking milk. No egg's or normal toppings/spreads for the bread but peanut butter/jelly/choco/cream cheese... the meat looked old and dry... This was NOT what you may expect you can imagine. I took photo's because I was so Surprised!! I cannot understand that a hotel owner thinks its normal to treat your guests like this, NO PASSION, NO HOSPITALITY, I was shocked! we did not eat of course and after a lot of calls to voicemail I spoke to the cleaning lady, she called the owner and I requested a refund. If you go to this area than consider to stay (visit) in Hasselt (culture and shopping) or Maasmechelen (outlet and go to TerHills) great nature park! Terhills has a Centerparks where you can rent an e-boat, also go for a walk to the top of the hills and enjoy the view! You can eat delicious at O'AN BAT (Eijsden). Also Restaurant ASPERMANS in Maasmechelen was AMAZING, with the out-door terras in nature! The best Italian home made pizza is in Maccione in Hasselt, we were so amazed by the fresh pizza's, made in an traditional wood-oven! so we had an amazing weekend but this Hotel, Never AGAIN!
