Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyHot water comes very slowly. Floor and doors cause big noises cus they’re made of wood. Pillow a bit too hard.
Staff really friendly. Very nice price (5€) and good options for breakfast. A cat lives here but I didnt see him. Cool paintings and well designed public room.

FinlandThe hostel is very tidy and has interesting and beautiful interiour design. The breakfast is simple but great value anyway for 5 euros, even a vegan got a nutritious start for the morning. Good to notice the stairs are quite steep and the dorm i stayed in had ladders to access some of the beds in the attic, so bigger luggage you don’t necessarily get with you next to your bed.

NetherlandsThe main issue I saw as a concern, especially as a female solo traveler, is the type of locks the doors have. Yes you have a key and the door can be locked from the inside and the outside..however I feel this needs to be upgraded to a lock mechanism such as night latch/yale locks. The type which will lock from the outside once closed and can only open with a key, yet if on the inside you can open with just the handle. I say this because currently the doors are unlocked either way unless you lock from outside or inside.. but if not “locked “ with the key it can be opened from the outside by anyone. Meaning if you are asleep in your room, a sharing room guest could leave the room completely unlocked whilst you’re inside and ANYONE could come in whilst you sleep. Just something to consider perhaps for guest safety and peace of mind, especially for female solo travellers. Also, the lockers in the room are a bit pointless because they don’t actually lock, the other guests in room could freely open my locker if they chose and bringing back to the first issue so could anyone inside the hotel if the room hasn’t been locked by every guest leaving the room.
The property itself is full of character and original features from the building and then all the extra added features, artwork and decoration makes it really unique and interesting. Including a wall of artwork left and displayed from previous guests, which I thought was a great idea and fitting with the fact it situates next to an Art school.

United KingdomDidn't find the bed amazingly comfortable if I'm 100% honest.
Great Location The room decor might not be for everyone. Some might find it a little creepy, but I really liked it. Really nice lounge area. There was a local power cut on the day of departure in the local area. Quite cleverly, the staff then decided to light the living areas with candles as it was a little gloomy. It actually fit the decor of the place brilliantly and they should do this more often.

BelgiumThe comfort, privacy and peace in the dorm. I've stayed in many hostels and usually do not struggle with this but I had 3 really bed nights of sleep. When one person is awake, everyone wakes up. This is due the creaking and shaking beds. Every person has their own lamp close to the bed but this one was so bright, not nice when people come in late/leave early. Also, there were only plugs close to the ground which was annoying in the upper bed. My advice is to change the ultra bright lamps into dimmed ones with warm lights. Ultimately, putting curtains next to the bed to block the light streams.
Very nice shared area. Staff is super friendly. Kitchen is spacious and clean and has the basic needs such as oil and spices so you do not have to bring those yourself. Bathroom was decent and spacious.

CanadaI don’t like that the bedroom doors don’t automatically lock. You really have to trust your dorm mates to lock the door when they leave, and in my experience, they didn’t. The bunk bed frames touch eachother in the four unit dorm, so when someone rolls over in their sleep EVERYONE can feel it. The location is about 25min walk into the centre.
The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful! The common space is beautiful. There’s a great kitchen and lounge area. The bathrooms were private, secure and clean.

SpainNothing in specific: maybe I will add next to every bed a mini shelf or holder to rest your phone when is charging.
The overall stay, the full-equipped kitchen even though I didn't have breakfast, the location is good too, close to the bus station. The staff let me leave my luggage without any charge, and the vibes of the place are really chill as well. The neighborhood looks safe during night and day.

ItalyThe lockers in the room were just too small and didn't even fit a small backpack. Remote workers tended to monopolize the only (very small) common area at any hour of the day and complained for obvious noise or just chats of other travelers even late in the evening or lunch/dinner time. Some more rules regarding use of common spaces would make the hostel a Hostel, not a co-working space with dorms where chatting is silently forbidden and talking to travelers is a sin
The staff was very kind and smiley, free coffee available all day, outside area for smokers just outside the common space/kitchen
