Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomStains on couch, damp on walls, looked unfinished top floor bedroom did not feel safe, railings very unsteady(some broken), not a lot of privacy with curtain in bathroom, tv was broken so could not use, multiple blinds were broken, ceiling very low in top bedroom(hit head a lot of times), outside garden area was dirty(pigeon feathers all over and bird poop all over the patio area) ALOT of stains on the walls!

AustraliaYou could not sleep in one of the beds due to the springs sticking out on both sides, the mezzanine railing at the top of the stairs is very loose and very unsafe, the dishwasher was not operational during our stay and the smell coming from it was revolting. The floors were very sticky like soft drink had been spilt everywhere, had to leave shoes on (otherwise it was cleaned well). This apartment could be excellent if a small amount of maintenance/replacement of a mattress was undertaken and perishing dining chairs were replaced with simple plastic ones from Ikea.
The apartment was centrally located to everything, excellent location. Close to shops, restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and public transport. The apartment was very clean, except for the sticky floors.

United Kingdomthe staff was useless, told them we had trouble getting into our room, and did not even leave their seat. just told us to keep trying. we also told him the light was broken so it was hard to see where we were walking, and he told us “the light isn’t broken” when it clearly was. no one explained how the kitchen facilities worked which would have saved time figuring it out. limited towels. the place is clearly well used, it has a lot of wear and tear but nothing major. also the upstairs bathroom smells like sewage and the shower doesn’t drain quickly, so if people are showing back to back, it spills over the shower lip into the rest of the bathroom floor.

No bulb/ light in the bathroom, remote control did not work and worst the electric code for front door stopped working after 1st day. Not possible to reach 24/7 service Sunday morning by phone. Lived close to Smartflats office so they helped us before their opening hour.

United KingdomUpon arrival we were extremely concerned with the property. The first thing we noticed as we walked through the door was that the property was filthy. •The bed in bedroom 2 was completely broken and unusable. •Bedroom 3 on the top floor had a large section of safety railing missing meaning the room was too dangerous to use as if one of our group took a wrong step they would fall through the stairwell hole and get horribly injured or worse! •The bathroom door had clearly been removed previously meaning there was absolutely no privacy when using the shower or toilet. •A large section of handrail on the main staircase was missing, making using the stairs dangerous. •The terrace was covered in bird excrement. •The TV was missing •The radiator in the main bathroom was hanging off the wall •There was no hairdryer (as advertised in the listing) which as a group of ladies was far from ideal, but by this point the least of our worries! •Exposed electrical wires I immediately contacted the support team. I repeatedly tried to get help for several hours from the support team who eventually told me in the early evening that there is no technical team or cleaning team available at the weekend and they couldn’t offer an alternative apartment. Our group were left with 1 bed for 5 people and had to sleep on the sofa and floor. Whilst cheap, the fact we did not even have the basics of useable beds and safety was unacceptable. Smartflats must have been aware of the state of the apartment prior to our stay as somebody had tried to prop up the broken bed with stacks of paper!!Also the bathroom door was not in the apartment so clearly somebody had taken it away and was aware the bathroom was left with no door. The missing handrails would be clearly seen by any of the cleaning or technical team who entered the apartment. It’s incredibly upsetting that smartflats allowed our booking to go ahead in such dangerous conditions.

GermanyFirst I have to say: the apartment is not as bad as I had expected from all the negative reviews. The apartment appearance was actually quite ok. But I had two issues which were really annoying: The stove did not work. I reported the defect on the first day. Complaint ignored. Was not repaired before I left. I had purchased food. Went to waste because could not cook. The building entrance did not open with code on 3 occasions. Support person was annoying: I shld first send video. This was just a waste of my time: did they doubt that I can enter a 5-digit code correctly? When I finally just did what they wanted, their email did not support video attachment (too big file). And quite irresponsible to waste my time, standing in front of building and asking my personal data, which they anyway have under my room number in my reservation. And here we did not talk about my room key, but the building entrance. What they should do: fix the door lock and use their intercom video to identify the clients, and then open door remotely (one time this worked well). Finally: a ridiculous compensation offer: 15 % on next visit. Who would want to return with such service? And I got saddled with the cost for the food which went to waste.

Czech RepublicThe apartment used to be an open space office. That is probably why some rooms have glass walls. The lights in the hall switch on automatically which means whenever someone goes there, the light switches on and you have quite a lot of light in the room where you sleep. In my case the switcher was out of order and the light was on the whole night. I tried to contact Smartflats via mail and via phone, unfortunatelly they did not send anybody to fix it for the whole week. It means I had to sleep all nights with the light on, which was terrible. Moreover the kitchen is not enought equipped. There are enought plates, glasses and mugs. But there are only a few pots. There are two frying pans but non of theme worked on the induction stove.
The instructions I got on my email were clear. There was no problem to get the key from the box.
