Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Ambiance: Stepping into the Patio de Piedra is like stepping back in time. This beautifully restored colonial house boasts character and charm, with its carved wooden details and a central courtyard. It feels more like a luxurious home than a hotel. Overall: If you're looking for a unique and charming place to stay in La Paz, with a touch of history and excellent service, the Patio de Piedra Hotel Boutique is a perfect choice.

BelgiumThe window came out in the hall so no fresh air and a bit hot.
Beautiful building with old elements and patio. The bed was huge and amazing. Location perfect, only 200 meters from the main streets.

United StatesThe beds were comfortable. The pillows were not. And there were two few pillows. The bathroom was just adequate. But the water pressure and hot water were excellent. The breakfast buffet could have been better. The location was excellent and the building was very cool.
The staff at the hotel were the best! Especially Hernán. He really helped us and was a great guy!

Really fabulous historic building, it's like going back in time. So much more interesting than a modern bland box of a hotel. My room was large and had a nice big comfy bed. If you come in on the Bolivia hop bus, it's one of the hotels they will drop you off at (via a free taxi).

PhilippinesThe beds were squeeky as it was old.
The staff was very accommodating. We had to leave the next morning for an early flight and they offered to pack our free breakfast to bring to the airport. They also arranged for taxi to and from the airport. The room was okay. The bed were a little squeeky. Location was good also, walking distance to the mercado and church. The place looks old but is maintained.

United StatesThe staff.
We had pleasant stays (twice) here. The building is very charming, the breakfast is great, and the staff is wonderful. There were some issues when we checked out early on the morning of our last day, but the staff offered his generous help, and we finally arrived at the airport on time.

CanadaPlease put in sensor lights for very dark hallways and stairs.
Great location and the staff was great. We were unable to have breakfast there due to an early flight. There were breakfast bags ready for us at our 6 am departure. They also had a fantastic welcome basket for us upon arrival. My only complaint is that there are no lights on at night or early morning. I almost fell down the stairs not knowing where switches were. I suggested sensor lights or keeping lights on overnight; management blamed staff for not helping us, which was not feasible, rather than take responsibility.

United KingdomNothing we didn’t like - breakfast could have some more fresh options.
We moved to this hotel after a disappointing experience at a nearby hotel, which was the same price. The quality bar is set very high here - the rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, much better than the photos. Staff were attentive and always happy to help. After checking out they even have an area upstairs to relax before onward travel. Also, very quiet given it is in the centre. I would definitely stay here again.

United StatesRestaurant does not open regularly except for breakfast and a few days a week. There is no elevator, (understandable as this is an old building). It gets harder when taking luggage to upper level, especially with high elevation. Staff helped us a lot taking luggage upstairs.
Location is excellent. Hotel is amazing. For the long history of the building, it shows in a lot of details of beautiful decorations we don't normally see in present day buildings. I enjoyed and admired of those old artistically carved/decorated wooden doors. I love the hotel. The staff are the best. I will come back to this hotel again if I come back to La Paz.

AustraliaLoved this hotel. It’s 400 year old building that oozes character. We had the King suite on the top floor under the rafters. A large room with sitting area, king bed, flat screen digital TV and good bathroom. Breakfast provided, eggs to order plus fruit and pastry items. Really nice staff in all areas of the hotel. Dinner is available, also a washing service. In a good location in La Paz, everything is a steep walk and this area is no different.

United KingdomSmall thing - the bathroom had a vent that went directly to the outside so it could get a little chilly in there (and a little noisy, as it was carnival time).
An amazing hotel! The wooden decor is beautiful, the room & the bed were both massive! The stained glass windows are a gorgeous touch. Just a really gorgeous looking place to stay. The hotel is in a really central location but as soon as you enter you feel cut off from the noise & busyness of outside. Reception were super helpful - we had to leave very early on our check-out day and they even made sure we had a packed breakfast to go. Plus they gave us welcome chocolates on the first day. Great value for money. Hot water, good amenities and extras like shampoo, lotion & an extra blanket for the bed. Breakfast was delicious & loads of choice, we had fresh scrambled eggs made for us.
