How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

A little out of the way but totally worth it

A bit far from the city center. We had a problem with wifi in our room and they were not able to solve it during our 5 days stay.
Really nice hotel, profesional staff, good food and facilities.

The shower needed a deep clean. Mold on the shower walls.
The hotel is very nice and not far from town. Breakfast was very delicious and the staff are very accommodating. Valter was the best staff member during our stay, very kind to my family.

I didn’t like that almost nobody speaks English and when tried to speak Spanish the result was almost the same. We had a group that was making noise on the pool until midnight and when complained about noise they sent me a guy to fix the noise in my room. They charged my mother in law something that she never had on her final bill. So besides the room comfort and food overall experience was very bad as I think that having 4 stars in a place that lives out of tourism you should at least have basic English and se ce of hospitality

The room wasn’t so clean, mold smell and they put two singles beds together to make a couple one.

There was loud music at all times in all areas (breakfast, bar, dinner, pool area). So loud it was sometimes even difficult to talk. We could hear the loud music from our room until late hours so it was impossible to rest. The facilities are outdated, the hotel is very dark and the ceilings are very low. The garden of the hotel was closed so it reduced the space to almost none. The water of the swimming pool was really cold.
The staff was very friendly

this is called a hotel/convention center but it’s all but this. they should call it: hotel/kids club. the moment we walked in it was completely full of running and screaming kids, there’s a huge kids club area so if you’re looking for that, this is the place to go. checking in took long, the room smelled bad and was uncomfortable, also here in the hallway there were many screaming kids (and they get up very early) food was not good, overall we were just extremely happy to leave this place again.

Pool was overcrowded, my request for an early check in was not met and a room for 2 adults and 2 children had only one double bed and one single bed and we didn´t get any solution to this situation, other than an offer for a mattress on the floor.
Hotel is good, clean and most staff are friendly

On our journey into Foz the sign for Rafrain was broken and looked tired. This gave a poor impression. On arrival the foyer was clean but the swimming pool area was also tired looking and the tables dirty. The breakfast buffet was excellent but the evening meal limited in its selection. Lastly the bill at the end was disorganised. I was honest and communicated all that we had eaten and drunk but others would not be so. It had not been automatically added to our tab. After I had communicated this I was then told it was my fault! No thanks was offered for my honesty. I was not seeking thanks but I was surprised by the arrogance of the staff to pass the blame back on me. I fear your hotel is hemorrhaging money as not everyone would be as honest. Your image needs to updated and your administration checked.
The lady at reception when we arrived was very helpful. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The rooms clean if not sparse..no tea or coffee facilities..ie small kettle to get hot water.This is normal in most hotels. The cofre...I had to ask for a key. I think the problem is I was expecting much higher standards for a 4 star Hotel. It is a good Hotel but it could be great. Please accept my comments as constructive not negative. Thank you
