The hostal is far from the town center and I needed to pay taxis to get to go to tours and food. If you're not renting a car consider adding between 4-5 USD per trip

Everything was great

I loved how laid back and private it is. The views are amazing day and night . You can really catch the sunrise and a stargaze at night. I loved the atmosphere, it was very welcoming. The hosts were amazing in accommodating our needs. I love the location it’s not too far from main town/streets.

Very happy with my stay at the Atacama Checar Hostel. The location was very quiet and safe with a wonderful view on the volcanoes/stars (especially from their roof top lounge area). Especially the staff / host were very helpful and gave me a lot of insights regarding places to visit and at which time. They were also a great help with booking bus tickets to Calama / Antofagasta for me which was not possible as a foreigner with European debit / credit cards. The laundry service provided at the hostel was also very convenient and a major plus.

The only complaint would be that the shower temperature would fluctuate, and after the first couple minutes, I sometimes couldn't get the hot water to come back. It was very difficult to get a good temperature. Otherwise, the bathroom was large and comfortable and there was good water pressure.

The staff was amazing! I don't speak Spanish, but they used Google translate on their phone to communicate. They were very kind and helpful, and when I had to leave very early in the morning, they even left me a to-go snack in lieu of breakfast! Very nice!

Just outside town so quiet and safe. The hosts are extremely helpful and accommodating! The astronomy tour they arranged for us was absolutely incredible! You need a car or motorcycle(or bicycle)to go back and forth to town but it’s better to stay out of town because the rooms are bigger, great breakfast and more economical!!!

The neighbour’s donkey doesn’t like sleeping and the rooster wakes up way too early. Earplugs recommended for light sleepers.

The hostel is lovely and nicely decorated. The owners are very knowledgeable, kind and helpful. We rented a car, so it was easy to reach the center of San Pedro, that would otherwise be a 30min walk. On the first day, when we didn’t have the car yet, the owner gave us a lift to San Pedro and picked us up in the evening. They also helped us with arranging the airport transfer and gave us precious indications for reaching all the main attractions around San Pedro. The room was cleaned every other day. The breakfast is simple but good. When we needed to leave at 4:30am to visit El Tatio, they prepared an on the go breakfast for us.

Hosts were extremely helpful, even though they didn't speak English and we didn't speak Spanish - very proficient use of google translator. They explained a lot, prepared breakfast to go when we went to El Tatio at 4:00, helped with tickets over Spanish only website, etc. Breakfast was ham and cheese, coffee, very tasty yogurt, cereal. Location was within 10 minutes drive of San Pedro.

Very clean and thoughtful place with all the facilities you could ask for with super friendly and attentive hosts. Appreciated the complimentary all day access to hot and cold water facilities and packed breakfast before visiting El Tatio geysers.

everything was perfect

Extremely kind and helpful staff, they answered all our questions we had before the arrival and also, during the stay, they gave us a lot of very useful tips (where to eat, tips for trips, also arranged a tour with an agency for us). The hostal is located in a quiet place, with beautiful scenery and a view of a volcano from the terrace. The breakfast was excellent, they even made a breakfast package for us when we went for a tour early in the morning. Big room, very comfy bed. It's obvious that the owners pay attention to every detail and do their job with heart. Definitely the best place we stayed during our 2 weeks in Chile.

Our best stay in Chile. Spacious and well equipped room with private bathroom. All very clean including common areas. Tasty breakfast, possibility to organize a snack when you leave very early. Owner very nice and helpful, providing many useful tips for your trips. Strongly recommended
